Yesterday we went here to try something else. Our favorite Indian restaurant is on the other side of the road. We liked the atmosphere. Modern Indian music, which was quite enjoyable. But with some some songs, the sound was almost unbearable. It was very distorted, probably because of a blown up speaker. We were brought to our table by a girl wearing her jogging outfit. This is not what you expect in a decent restaurant. The papadum is not offered for free like in most restaurants. I don't care much about that, but I do care it was a bit scanty, only 3. We liked the sauses more in our favorite Indian restaurant, but the mango chutney was nice. The menu is far more limited than the competition menu. Thatvis not necessarily a problem. Quality is more important than quantity. And there things went a little bit wrong. The onion bahji was okay, but the competition does a better job. My girlfriend ordered a dish with spinach and potatoes, which was just okay, I ordered the only dish with fish. I liked it a lot. It was cleverly prepared. The sizzling plate consisted of delicate tender fish on top of seasoned (tandoori) vegetables, mainly onions. The garlic nan could be better and lagged garlic. For dessert we had, Gulab Jamun, was nice, but it came without ice cream. Only because of the fish, we will probably go back one day. The Indian restaurant on the other side of the road is better, not only because they offer better food, but also because the personal is better; correcter and more friendly. They definitely will remain our...
Read moreIf you are looking for Indian flavors, or decent service, this is not the place.
The food doesn’t have Indian flavors (I don’t know how they have such good ratings). Their shahi paneer is liquidy and tasteless, dal makhani is no where close to real dal makhni, and paneer phal has no flavors other than peppers. Their biryani is full of oil, has no flavor, and doesn’t come with salan. You can truly make any of these better at home with any internet recipe.
Their naans are the only decent thing.
When we asked for sliced onion to go with dal and biryani, they charged us for tomato salad because they don’t have a charge for an onion on the menu.
Based on my experience, this the only restaurant in entire Europe that doesn’t serve tap water and charges you to bring your own water - we paid €15 for just water - €2.5 if you buy their 0.5L water, or €2.5 if you bring your own bottle. An Indian restaurant who learned that water can generate a lot of profit when you serve food with masala. No Indian restaurant in the world has ever charged me for so much for water. Also, the €2.5 charge for your own water is not even on their menu. The server also said that if they let people bring water then they will not make enough profit. If you do decide to order water, ask them to bring a sealed bottle - they bring open water bottle and charge for it.
I truly hope people don’t get misled by their reviews and create an impression of Indian food or an Indian restaurant service based on...
Read moreHad a takeaway meal for two on Friday night 14th October. In Comparison to other Spanish, UK & other European Indian takeaway restaurants it got our vote as being one of the worst we have ever eaten from! The food was "over spiced" and a with pepper that removed all the flavours of the food & killed all those delicate spices altogether! The Peshawari Nan was made with some red fruit jam or preserve, (no coconut whatsoever!) no honey as sweetener, leaving it to be a very dry hard & I doubt it had been cooked in the Tandoor morelike a standard oven, so again no authentic flavour. No dressing of poppy seeds as is customary in other establishments. The meats in our dishes were well cooked but I doubt if they were marinated as the lamb was tough & chewy. Our potato dish was so under cooked we had to put it in the microwave for 2.5 minutes! Not a pleasant experience & if you are going to charge those prices your food must match on quality but sadly on this occasion I'm forced to write how we found it. On a good note the rice was perfect in quality & and cooking. We are in our early 60's & have eaten throughout the world & have a particular love of Asian & Indian foods, while that's a good place very wide geographical area, it tells you about our knowledge of food. I hope that our experience was a one off slip of standards but things should improve when the management read...
