Thapa Thai — Restaurant in Estepona

We have been coming here for many years and the owner always recognises us making us feel very welcome, even somehow fitting us in when the place is full. Most of the time we have the “set menu for 2” which is such good value at 22 euros each. To start you get prawn toast, spare rib, spring roll, a fried dumpling and the best chicken satay skewer 😋 Then main includes sweet & sour king prawns (the biggest !!) inside half pineapple, sizzling duck in satay sauce (amazing) accompanied with traditional sticky rice & jasmin rice. Then a desert is also included but we are usually to full 😂 The wine selection is good and really reasonable, we always have the “La Tapa Loca” Rueda Verdejo which is a great accompaniment to the fantastic flavours of the food. The food is awful and nothing like Thai very disappointed, if you have ever had a real Thai meal then you definitely won’t like this we won’t be back, when I questioned the waiter about the food not being Thai they try to explain that it was a Chinese Thai mix and they don’t use fresh vegetables in the soup like the Thais do, I would argue then it’s not Thai. the servers are great and helpful it’s the food that...

Thapa Thai has stepped up a gear since I last visited 4 years ago. The food was as good as that found in Thai Square, my favourite UK Thai chain, and the service was top quality.
