When we arrived as we had a reservation there was a group ahead of us who didn’t have a reservation and were asked to wait. we got in and they gave us a table by the bar and in the corner even though the other tables were free. Before seating we asked for one of the other tables by the windows and the waiter said they were reserved but I knew for a fact when you make the reservation you don’t get a choice and you defiantly are not given one. The waiter disagreed. Funny thing though. After being seated though the group who didn’t have a reservation who tried to get a table before us was seated at one of the tables at the window. Incredible. It does not leave a good impression when you almost get in an argument on arrival with the waiter because he is lying to you just so he doesn’t have to seat you where you prefer. It is also true what the other poor reviews say. This restaurant only exists because it the only one. So as usual with anywhere that doesn’t have any competition they don’t need to worry about what the client actually wants because there is always someone behind who doesn’t know better. Though from being in business this restaurants days are numbered unless they get better management which is client orientated and not just number driven oh and a better menu which is a little lacking. Come to the beach in your boat/car etc but not to the restaurant. YOU have a choice! Go elsewhere.

Ve...

Sol Cala Saona is the kind of place that lingers in your memory long after you leave. Nestled right on the edge of one of Formentera’s most stunning coves, it strikes the perfect balance between understated luxury and laid-back island dining.

The location is unbeatable. Cala Saona’s turquoise waters and red cliffs feel like a private paradise, and you can step into the sand in under a minute. Sunset here is nothing short of magical—the sky melts into shades of pink and orange, and you feel like you’re on the edge of the world.

Everything feels curated to enhance relaxation, from the crisp linens to the subtle design touches that echo Formentera’s effortless style.

The restaurant deserves a special visit. Fresh, beautifully prepared dishes highlight local ingredients. We felt like we were eating at a Michelin starred experience with the set menu, exquisite wine pairings and incredible service.

Sol Cala Saona is not just a dining experience—it’s an infusion of authentic tranquility, where time slows and nature and unbelievable food takes center stage. Perfect for couples, dreamers, and anyone who wants to reconnect with beauty...

The Sol restaurant is in the bay of Cala Saona in an excellent position, open terrace in front of sunset, sober and stylish furnishings, it promises what it as not kept in practice. The table service is discreet and professional, the menu based on fresh fish shows some very expensive dishes in relation to the raw material used (1 euro per mussel seems too much to us) it was inviting but it was what we wanted; let's start with a few delicious appetizers, because our attention is captured by a seafood paella with squid ink and we decide to order it. Really inviting except that it was inedible due to how salty it was! We didn't finish the dish and at the waiter's request we pointed out that it was impossible to finish it because it was too salty (inedible). We were disappointed when the room manager wanted to convince us that he was normal because:"The broth he uses, being restricted, is a bit tasty!" so what!!!!??? Considering that both my partner and I cook with a certain skill and know and appreciate good food, in a restaurant that makes the local product its philosophy, at least that has staff in the kitchen who know how to exalt it and treat customers well, apologizing if needed, proposing something else to eat because we paid and went back to the hotel on an empty stomach! If you are in Formentera on holiday willing to pay to eat well, do not book a table in this restaurant.

We went for lunch on our last day on the magical island of Formentera… The whole experience was SENSATIONAL!!! The food was spectacular but the staff were beyond amazing……it is impossible to overstate how important front of house are to your dining experience….it is a true profession. The Oysters were beautiful The Ceviche was the perfect blend of heat and sharp….I could have been in South America! The Tuna Salmorejo was beyond words….that Tuna!! Even braised lettuce was amazing taste delight The final dish the line caught Squid….oh my….smokey, warm, fresh…..perfection! My only comment would be that the website doesn’t do justice!! Looking there it seems it is quite traditional and a Paellera restaurant only IT ISNT!!! Thank you for an amazing experience I will treasure!

While the food was flavourful and plentiful, the experience was mired by a rather rude waiter. We asked for a side of fries which is available under sides for €9 in the menu (see image “patatas fritas”). The waiter rudely insisted that this wasn’t possible and never explained why we couldn’t ask for something that was on the menu and seemingly every dish included as a side. His explanation was simply “you can only order it alongside a main”, which is not explained on the menu. Everyone on the table had their own plate and we simply wanted fries to share among all. The lack of customer care to bring something which is on the menu was appalling. Given this, it just definitely isn’t worth the price. The rest of the wait staff was kind and helpful, though.
