At first appearances, this place has the potential to impress. Unfortunately that’s where it ended. The receptionist was rude and offhand after having walked 20km on the Via de la Plata to get there. She couldn’t find our booking and more importantly couldn’t be bothered to look for it. The room was filthy. The tiles round the bath were stained with black mould and the toilet bowl hadn’t been cleaned. Everything about the place reeks of decrepitude and apathy. A fellow traveller complained about being put in a room next to the lift motor room with an unacceptable level of continuous noise. He was told that there were no available rooms which was untrue because the entire 2nd and 3rd floors were empty. They just couldn’t be bothered to clean another room. When he mentioned that the replacement room they eventually offered had no working A/C he was told he should be grateful to get a room and that he could simply leave if he preferred. Utterly disgraceful. This place needs to realize that the Via de la Plata is going to get increasingly busy as the French Way becomes more overcrowded. If they’re hoping to entice more pilgrims then this attitude simply...

We stopped off here overnight on our way from Reinosa to the coast. The hotel is part of a holiday complex but in a separate building which was a converted flour mill so had a lot of ambience and furnished in traditional style. The rooms were clean and comfortable and there was free Wi-Fi . and good in bath showers . Evening meal was traditional Spanish fare and well cooked and reasonably priced ,drink was extra.. Breakfast was very simple bread jam and coffee. I am wheat free and on request a generous amount of lovely fresh fruit was provided not only for myself but also my friends and we were encouraged to take what we did not eat with us on our journey south. . No one spoke any English but every effort was made to make us comfortable . The complex was shut for the winter season ,I could imagine it could be noisy in season . However, at about 7.30pm loads of locals with their children came into the bar for half an hour for some family time and a general chat which added some local colour...

PROS: big room. Historic hotel. Good water pressure and temperature in shower. Great value for pilgrims €46. Very quiet at night. Efficient heaters. 7min walk to major supermarket, 1 min to smaller store. 10min walk to bus station CONS: dim lighting in room. Queen bed pressed against side wall. Small shower.

Recomiendo.
