BAR PACO PEPE — Restaurant in Gaucín

Bar Paco Pepe was a wonderful surprise. Having literally looked down our noses at it while dining at the relatively staid La Raiz restaurant nextdoor, we really didn't know what to expect from this casual place. Fortunately, it was recommended by our host who has lived in Gaucín for 50 years. The food was great! The shrimp pil pil, chipirones, and beef cheeks were excellent. Tip: have the eggplant starter for dessert. It's wonderful and very sweet. The service was attentive but not rushed. Used to come here regularly when we used to holiday in Gaucin before buying a house in nearby Jimena. Also, due to COVID, it was three years since we were last here, but the lovely staff seemed to remember us. So pleased that they are now open again. The setting is gorgeous, a sunny courtyard with lots of shade and the trickle of a fountain. As mentioned, the staff are friendly and efficient and the food is great.
