This was a review from years ago. "Lovely little spot. The degustación, the tasting menu, is really good value and good quality. The building is great and the staff are friendly. What more could you want. Well worth a visit."
At one point in the past we went quite often but we've not been back for ages. I'm not sure quite where we've been in the meantime, but it was well worth the return visit and it wasn't, in ay way, a let down.
The building and decor hasn't changed. It's one of those turn of the 20th Century rich person's house with high ceilings, big wooden doors, intricate plaster mouldings etc. The surroundings make the eating experience more interesting
The menu has changed substantially. From being a mid priced restaurant, no inexpensive, it is now mid priced. There were a couple of set menus, one at 40€ and the other at 52€ (I think). Either way it's not somewhere you're going to pop into for lunch everyday but it's not at Michelin prices either.
The food though was Michelin. Very good, lots of innovative touches, some of the dishes worked better than others but all of them were good efforts. The food was an overall good experience - all four of us liked it. I liked too that the beer, the bottles of wine and the coffees were at normal sort of prices. I really disapprove of those restaurants that think, because they're posh, it's OK to profiteer and charge 7€ for a bottle of water.
The service was very good, very friendly. It helped that our server spoke excellent English which made it much easier for the non Spanish speakers among us.
We went on a Monday lunchtime. That was because it was a birthday meal and Monday was the day. That's why the atmosphere was a bit duff. We were nearly alone, just another couple, in the patio with us. On the other hand it was great that the place is open on a Monday...
Read moreVery nice place and atmosphere. Feels like you are in a castle. The expectations of The food were high but my wife and I were very dissapointed. They have high ambitions on the dishes but not the competence to make it all the way. Really not a pleasant food experience which you expect for the price. Yes you have dishes that sound different and interesting but in the end is not at all exklusive. Over all far too salty(even The lemon mousse dessert). One is a weird combo that do not match together. Two looks not apetizing at all. Overcooked scallop. Some lacks taste and finesse. After 4 out of 8 dishes we felt that we did not want any more. The day before we had another gastronomic menue at another place and there you really want to see what comes next Unfortunately it is not...
Volveremos SIN DUDA ALGUNA. Mejor que en sitios con...
