Parador de Cañadas del Teide Restaurant — Restaurant in La Orotava

The bad reviews was quite worrying, so we weren’t too sure but ended up we had an amazing meal there. The only problem was making an order. The waiter seems experience and very good but barely speak any English! He kept nodding as if he understood and responded in Spanish… but you could totally tell he didn’t understand at all. We strategically avoided ordering the mains due to the bad reviews and ordered four starters in half portions. All four surpassed our expectations! Even the dessert was incredible! All of them were special local dishes, very interesting to get to try different things!

This place was more for fine dining experience which we liked but it wouldn’t work with that language barrier. Yet we still give it a 5 stars reviews because the food was incredible! I don’t normally like house wine (I ordered it because it was impossible to communicate with the waiter…) but it was so good! It went well with every dish we ordered!

This restaurant seems to be a monopoly with no desire to be good at anything but serving (any) food in a difficult environment.

Pros: +Good view +Lizards outside +I guess I wouldn't have gotten anything else to eat if they weren't in business +Our waitress was nice

Cons: -All foods on the menu were quite expensive -The burger (14€) I ordered was horrible without exaggeration. The buns were cold, the patty was warm-ish. It came with potatoes as a side. Sauce (ketchup, mayonnaise) was served separately (???) so you had to ration it between your potatoes and burger. I can't be the first person to order a burger there, I saw someone eating one while I was waiting. -Wait time (15-20min)

If you do not have your covid certificate with you you will be asked to leave the premises in the most unpleasant, unfriendly and harsh manner there is; no take away, nor toilet use which, by the way, is charged 1 euro.

Being this the only restaurant in that area, this means having to pee in nature and tissues being spread around. Very counterproductive for a national park.

The chips served to whom was entitled to, were not cooked thoroughly ad had no salt on them. Not enough staff.
