Casa Pepe — Restaurant in La Victoria de Acentejo

We were 5 people and ordered 2 huge starters and 2 big servings of steak (probably 2kg). One was the best steak I've had in Spain and possibly best in Europe (it's a toss up between here and RED in Amsterdam so far). After we sat down the owner took 3 of us into the kitchen to chose the steak. There were 2 massive uncut slabs of meat. 1 was an average looking steak and the other was a Galacian steak full of marbling (a truly top quality steak). We asked for a serve of each. I was blown away by the Galician steak and more blown away by the price. That quality for that price would be very difficult to find back in Australia... the cheaper steak was nothing special. Last Wednesday, May 24, I visited Casa Pepe and left fully satisfied. Very good reception, great attention by waiters and owner. The food is excellent and the wine better. Guachinche en el norte de Tenerife. Aunque cuesta un poco llegar (está un poco escondido, y hay que subir por unas pendientes bastante pronunciadas) vale la pena.

Tiene varios aparcamientos cerca de las instalaciones, aunque cuando nosotros llegamos estaban llenos y tuvimos que aparcar bastante lejos, ya que no hay sitio en las cercanías. Sin embargo, todavía quedaba sitio de sobra en el interior y no tuvimos que esperar mucho para que nos dieran una mesa.

Desafortunadamente, debido al viento, no pudimos sentarnos en el exterior, ya que no se podían tener las sombrillas abiertas y hacia demasiado sol. Se nos ofreció la oportunidad de elegir y optamos por una mesa de interior.

No obstante, he de decir que valió considerablemente la pena. La comida estaba deliciosa, servida en porciones generosas y con una atención excelente por parte del personal. Igualmente, los precios son bastante buenos, ya que almorzamos (incluyendo postre) por aproximadamente 15€...
