El guitarra — Restaurant in la Vila Joiosa / Villajoyosa

We dined in El Guitarra this evening. It was a wonderful experience. The host was very welcoming from the moment we arrived and they were very accommodating to our daughters, providing them with a drawing page and colouring as soon as we sat down. The menu was superb and my wife and I loved the paella. The children's deal for €12.50 was excellent value as they each got a main, a drink and an ice cream for this. Our girls loved the lolly pop stuck into their ice cream! The beer was tasty in a cool glass and the wine was also very enjoyable. The staff were all excellent and very friendly. We came to this restaurant as a large group, ready to enjoy a nice evening and order a variety of dishes. Unfortunately, the experience was completely ruined by something absolutely unacceptable. One of the seafood paellas was served with a metal wire in it… ma likely a piece from the cleaning tools used on the pan.

When we brought it to the attention of the head waiter, the only response we got was: “It can happen.” No apology, no offer to replace the dish, not even a suggestion to remove it from the bill.

Such a dismissive and unprofessional attitude is shocking. It’s a shame, because we were planning to order more and stay longer. Instead, we were left feeling disrespected and deeply disappointed. We will not be coming back, and we cannot recommend this...

We were seated and handed the menue, underneath our table was a big fat 🪳. Already dead, but still, gross. Our friends still ordered food. Since I was very skeptical, I only ordered salad. It came with 3 noodles hidden underneath the salad. There were 2 different kinds of tomatoes, both cut in a different way. I am pretty sure this plate was simply leftovers mixed together. I could not take a single bite. The staff asked me (after everybody had already finished eating) if they could bring me something else, but I was completely done with this place.
