Gammarus Restaurant & Beach Club — Restaurant in Lloret de Mar

We visited this restaurant three times, and here is our overall impression.

The location is lovely, right by the beach. The outdoor tables are placed in partial shade, though some still get quite a bit of sun. Unfortunately, breakfast is not available.

One thing we found a bit unusual is that all the waitstaff are older men. There also seems to be a bit of a lack of organization — for example, some drinks were missing from the menu each time we visited, even though they were already unavailable the week before.

During our last visit, we had a reservation for 12:30 but arrived at 12:15. Although we were seated, the waiter refused to take our order at 12:20, saying he would return in 10 minutes. I found this a bit unfriendly, especially since the waiter did not appear to be busy during that time. Even if the kitchen wasn’t open yet, it would have been a nice gesture to take the order in advance.

On a positive note, the salads are very good!

Took friends from UK for lunch. Had booked for the terrace but owing to weather conditions we were seated inside. The ambience inside the restaurant was warm and welcoming. The staff who attended us were friendly and very professional. After choosing from the menue we asked for advice on wine . We were offered several options by the very knowledgeable lead waiter for wine . We had two starters between us which was more than enough. The courgette cappacio was delicious as were the small fried fish. Turbot and lamb followed that were excellent as were the two bottles of a very modern style rose, thanks for your suggestion Matt. Desserts which we didn't think we needed we ordered . All desserts were priced at €7 and what exceptional value they were, don't think I will ever forget the fresh fruit presentation and the fresh pineapple was stated as been the best thing. We (Americans) were staying in Lloret de Mar for the week and looking for good places to eat and we discovered this little gym. First, the atmosphere is beautiful, very relaxing and elegant. Of course you have excellent views of the coast too. The food was also excellent. We started with croquettes, pan con tomato, calamari, all excellent. My son ordered a hamburger for dinner and he said it was the best burger he had in Barca area. My husband had the chicken ravioli and it was excellent, my daughter shared some with him. I ordered the tuna tar tar and it was good, to be honest it was OK, the tuna was not the bright red. My daughter got the octopus and it was not what she expected in the manner it was prepared and served. Overall I loved the ambiance, drinks, and most of the food and we highly recommend.
