TERRIBLE experience. I strongly advise everyone (especially Italians, because – as you will understand by reading the full review – there is an evident prejudice against us) not to come to this beach club, unless you want to ruin your mood and your day.
On 29/08/25, a friend and I came here for lunch to celebrate my birthday. From the very beginning, the restaurant staff was not polite: while we were about to take a few souvenir photos in front of EMPTY sunbeds, we were told that for the privacy of the clients (?) it was not possible to take photos there. After that, they kept staring at us from afar with a threatening look to make sure we didn’t take any more pictures. But the “best” part came later.
The only bathroom near the restaurant is inside the beach club. Before paying, I went to the toilet, and after a few minutes my friend got up to come and find me. As soon as she left the table to head towards the bathroom, she was stopped because we hadn’t paid yet, and when she explained that she was waiting for me and going to look for me, she was followed by a waitress who told her “no no, I’ll follow you now” and then shouted in front of all the customers, demanding that she pay as if we were two thieves. When she reached me as well, she kept treating us extremely rudely, and when we told her to calm down so we could explain the situation, she even said “I don’t care, first you pay” (in Spanish – perhaps out of ignorance or perhaps just to emphasize an already very evident rude attitude). Once again, we were treated as if we were thieves (also because we were Italian? I truly believe so).
I paid immediately, and she didn’t even give us the receipt (apparently, for this lady, only the customers need to be precise). We then had to go back inside and ask for it ourselves. I reported the behavior of this waitress (blonde, ponytail, green eyes) to the rest of the staff and at reception. When the receptionist went to ask about the situation, he told me that his colleague apologized (not in person, though – because apparently, besides lacking good manners, she also lacked courage) and that she was “nervous” because there were many customers (1. That’s not my problem 2. There weren’t many customers – and there’s a reason for that).
I have never been treated so badly in my life, and I feel ashamed of the appalling treatment I received, which completely ruined my birthday. I went back to the hotel upset and nauseous (also because the food itself was quite disappointing).
Update after reply: Unbelievable how you managed to make me angry even here in Milan! My friend got up from the table after me and was immediately approached by the staff and EVEN WHEN SHE EXPLAINED THAT SHE WAS COMING TO LOOK FOR ME, YOU FOLLOWED HER, INSULTED HER IN FRONT OF THE CUSTOMERS AND TREATED US LIKE TWO THIEVES. Your reply shows not only how rude you are, but also how dishonest, congratulations! Sometimes apologizing could at least improve the situation, but instead you chose to make an even worse impression in front of anyone reading this. You truly deserve for your place...
Read moreMy review really mirrors the experience of Markus below.
First, the location is stunning. That alone merits a star. Mhares is perched on a cliff with a staircase down to rock shelves at the water's edge. Mhares itself is lovely - well kept and clean, very tropical, feels tucked away. There's a covered portion where you can grab a drink (and some much needed shade!) and then a lovely, large area surrounding the pool and overlooking the water that encompasses the chairs, beds and restaurant.
We checked in and from there, it's fairly mediocre. A host came and brought us to our chairs. We chose the front row of the relax area for 174€. That includes two towels (I mistakenly assumed each), fruit skewers and water. So, it's pricey. I will say that my expectations at that price point are for high level service throughout.
The fruit skewer was a wee bowl of a grocery store cut fruit. Water was two small cans. Your one towel is spread on your chair for you upon arrival (good touch). So, it is as promised. Just only barely.
The staff were brusque, often you had to flag them down. Service felt cursory, like order takers, not like you are valued guests at a luxe beach club. No above and beyond effort was made to make the experience excellent. They also spent a lot of time loudly talking to each other across the patio or through their headsets. It just wasn't the overall experience we were expecting.
Only one of our chairs had shade, so we asked for an additional umbrella. Note - there are freestanding umbrellas on the patio. They said no. There was no offer to help us shift our chairs or suggestions to get out of the sun for a bit so we could really spend the day there.
We considered lunch at the restaurant but it's right beside the pool, on the pool deck, so there didn't seem to be much benefit (new space to spend time in, maybe shade or air conditioning).
In the end, it just wasn't the luxe experience we were looking for. Our intent had been to spend the day eating and drinking and lounging. We left early afternoon.
I think this might a good option if you're staying somewhere without a resort style pool. We were staying at a hotel with a large, lovely pool, chairs and Bali beds, 5 star service (from endless towels to moving umbrellas to bringing buckets of ice and tongs to refresh drinks without being asked - that really impeccable, thoughtful service that makes you feel pampered and makes it easy to relax) so in hindsight, I don't think the value was there to spend 174€ for a lesser experience.
Takeaway - pretty space, beautiful views, but the kind of experience you'd expect from a popular and perfectly adequate tourist trap restaurant (fine, but absolutely not special) not a luxe beach resort (where your every need is attended to before you even knew...

We have booked two sunbeds in the Relax area which came with a fee (NOT minimum spend) of 174€ for 2 persons. On their website they advertise the beds come with a complimentary fruit „platter“, water and towels.
To start with the fruit „platter“ is the size of an ashtray including maybe a small handful of not even fresh fruits. The water consist of two 0,33L cans. For the fact that they advertise it as an extra and for the price of the loungers, you could expect more here. „Platter“ is definitely the wrong definition here.
We were seated right in front of two pairs of old speakers that were blasting music so loud that we barely hear our own voice without screaming at each other.
We needed to complain FIVE times until someone was willing to turn the volume down a bit so that we feel we are laying at the „relax“ area that we have booked and payed for.
The umbrellas are fixed to the ground so one of our lounger was completely without shadow. We have asked if it possible to get another umbrella but its not. They do not have extra umbrellas. They didn’t even offer to help us move one of the lounger into the shade. I guess they expect their guest to lay in the sun the whole day in the mid of august with temperatures going over 30 degrees.
We ordered a jug of sangria with cava. When it came the jug was half fruit juice on the bottom and half cava on the top. The waitress didn’t even considered to mix it instead she poured us two glasses of straight cava and served it. We needed to ask for a spoon, pour our glasses back in the jar and mix the jug ourselves to enjoy a Jug of sangria that came with a price tag of 42€. (normally this is served with a fresh bottle of cava)
For lunch we have asked the waiters what the veggie burger patty consist of. He told us it consist of vegetables. At the end it was a beyond meat patty - and that has nothing to do with vegetables at all.
General the service is slow and not accommodating.
The venue has its best years behind it and could need some restoration. You won't find beautiful decoration or an eye for detail here.
The whole day gave us a feeling that this place is a rip off that only profits from its...
