I have waited for 4 weeks (event occurred 13/4/25) to write this review once the anger had settled, to write a factual account. I try not to leave bad reviews, due to the negative impact it can have on lower income economies, but I was so appalled by the uppity racist waiter that I felt compelled to write this. Please forgive the length.

BACKGROUND: Having done a 3 km walk with 6 children, including a 5 year old who was recovering from knee surgery and a 4 year old, the children stopped to wet their feet at the beach below the restaurant. The idea was we were going to have lunch (6 children and 4 adults) at mirador San Pedro and then head back.

EVENT: Once my sister and I arrived with the kids, ahead of the husbands, we approached the restaurant, hungry, tired and very thirsty, We got a look of pure distain from the approaching waiter (see photo) which was not lost on either of us. I was looking at the menu on the wall, when the waiter said icecream is next door! Abrasive and abrupt. It was clear that we were not welcome. There were other families with children sitting. All white, all tourist and all in either in hiking or beach gear like us. There were plenty of empty tables available and no queue waiting to be seated.

We went next door where the lovely owner served us the three basic plates she had (cheese, salad and chips) chased down with beer and ice cream. The children went back to the mirador San Pedro to use the WC as the icecream parlor owner paid the restaurant for the privilege of her patrons to use their facilities. The same waiter didn't allow the children to use the WC except my niece who is green eyed and blond by virtue of her Spanish Canarian father. He hadn't realised that she was with our group. The waiter raised objections when he found his colleagues had permitted the children to use the WC and made comments about why the 5 &4 year old hadn't got shirts on. He was taken aback when the native 4 year old replied we were at the beach and our shirts got wet, in fluent Spanish.

When my canarian brother in law enquired why we hadn't been welcome at Mirador San Pedro, the waiter was taken aback by seeing the blond haired child and two white men sitting with us Asian women and the other 5 darker skinned children. He lied out right and said we had conveyed we only wanted ice cream. My blond niece , said "daddy he is lying. Mummy and auntie had just arrived and he didn't let them sit down".

I can not say wether this waiters clear racism is a personal affliction or reflective of the establishments attitude, but he cost the owner at least €300. This place may be considered upmarket for the island, but certainly does not meet that bench mark in most places around the world. Is is a beech front restaurant. That's it!

If the husbands were topless, perhaps I could forgive or understand the rudeness, but babies by the beach!

I have been visiting Tenerife for 20 years since my sister settled their with her canarian husband. This is the only place, I have encountered such obvious racism. Perhaps this waiters needs to think twice before he makes assumptions about who is speaking to based on the colour of their skin, especially since he is only an employee.

CONCLUSION: Avoid this place if you are not a white person or a white person with some decency! Icecream place next...

I almost never rate on google but this place really deserves it.

Not only for the good food, reasonable prices and amazing view. But most of all the waiter

We arrived around 4 with the 2 of us and didnt eat lunch yet, we were planning on going out to eat later that night around 8pm to 9pm however we were a bit hungry so we thought lets order some starters just as an inbetween snack.

However as i'm dutch and we are known for being economical, i saw the main course prices were very good compared to the starters.

We ordered 2 starters and the hamburger, the hamburger was fairly cheap. He asked, only 1 maincourse? I said it was a pre diner and we would share all of it. Not only were the starters a really nice portion but when the hamburger maincourse came i saw 2 hamburgers on the plate. I thought first, ok he might of made a mistake. That's fine, i'm a big eater so i can finish this.

When the check came i was really surprised, i saw only 1 hamburger charged!

Now that was something i have never seen, a free hamburger. I was really amazed. He indeed confirmed it was fine. Super nice of them.

I really hope he didnt think because i was dutch i was so cheap i would not buy my girlfriend a full maincourse, yes we dutch are also known for being cheap. The saying; let's go dutch, comes from somewhere.

Of course i tipped here more then i usually do. Wait, i'm still dutch so i normally never tip, only in exceptional cases and this was definetly one of them.

He said good bye very friendly and shoke my hand. Ps: still thinking he thought i blew all my money on this trip to tenerife with my girlfriend and couldnt afford more.

Now please don't all go ordering 1 hamburger here and hoping you get 2.

Enjoy the food, view and most of all very...

I never leave comments, but this experience turned out to be really unpleasant: We stopped at this restaurant with no particular expectations other than to grab a bite to eat on the way back from our walk. The waiters were rude, placed us at a table in the entrance and then were borderline polite during the service even though we had decided to take it with a smile. We ordered 2 burgers and the meat on one of them was catastrophic: an appearance and taste that had nothing to do with a minced steak (see photo). The fries were barely cooked (and clearly frozen) and in very small quantities, but ultimately not worse considering the quality... In short, for our part, it was by far the worst restaurant experience in Tenerife.
