The owner and his wife were so kind and inviting. As soon as we walked in the door he was there with a smile and a handshake then introduced us to his wife. We felt like we were dining in our family home! We ordered the Menu del día and loved every bit of it! The Greek salad was so fresh! It was the first Greek salad outside of Greece that tasted authentic! The chicken and veal were very good with a nice flavor and the cheesecake was the perfect ending to a very satiating meal. And all for an extremely reasonable price (€23)! And if a great meal for a great price served in a family atmosphere is not enough…the owner presented both my husband and I with a lovely little souvenir to remind us of Madrid and of his and his wife’s kindness! Our only regret is that we are flying home early tomorrow morning and will not be able to return to what is now our favorite...

This family-run restaurant is perfect for customer service and welcome. The welcome is due largely to the sadly retiring Pepe who made us all feel part of the community. His warmth and humour are a genius masterclass in how to make anyone feel welcome. The restaurant has a cosy decor that feels traditional and comforting. The food and drink are classic Spanish dishes at reasonable prices. Pepe introduced us to a good selection of dishes and we could easily have had tinto verano all day. A lovely restaurant with a long history in the area. We had the Iberian ham and cheese plate as well as the Camarones, Papas, and Croquettes (Calamari, Potatoes, and Croquettes). All were delicious. Our host was so personable and friendly. He told of us of his grandfather, who used to make deliveries and everyone knew when he was coming because his horse wore bells, hence "Campanilla," which is Spanish for bells, and was the nickname of his grandfather.
