We have just dined there after previously dining there a couple of years ago. At the start the waitress and waiter were very friendly, Myself ordered a steak which was nice and at 34€ it should be. My wife ordered the lamb chops in a mint sauce.... there are no starter options , it turned up with what I can describe as a reduced thick oil, there was not a hint of mint apart from ' hierbabuena' leaves on top, my wife requested some mint sauce for which a dark brown sauce was brought out, again with no taste of mint, my wife spoke very politely in Spanish & English so there was no confusion on what we asked for, so we mentioned it to the waitress who came back with the chef ( seemingly her mother) who was adamant and said "in spain that is how it is" and " the sauce has been reduced over 7 days" yes, reduced so much it wasn't mint sauce anymore! sorry but after living in Spain for 40 years i still know what mint sauce should taste like! She said it had no salt so it tastes different....salt or no salt it was the mint that was non existent. The waitress and the chef were extremely rude with a very bad attitude. The waiter tried to speak to us and the waitress ( daughter ) told him to not continue explaining as she had already explained...with that he walked off. It's a shame as previous visits where good but this time it has put us off ever returning. I would not recommend for the bad attitudes and there's NO mint in the mint sauce. Reading other comments it seems they don't like criticism, so let's see the response to our review.
Response to owner: We are not surprised with your response to our first review taking into account you don't seem to like taking any criticism. To Clarify My wife did NOT order an extra portion of sauce, she asked for a replacement as the sauce it came with had no flavor of mint at all......And I also clarify my wife did NOT finish her meal for 2 reasons, 1 the staff's attitudes and 2, sadly it was tasteless. As a customer we gave an honest opinion on both our meals....but seemingly you only respond to the criticism this is clear to see as you don't respond to any others. We were very polite throughout its a shame you can't take customers feedback whatever it...
Read more100% recommended! I never leave reviews, these guys are worth leaving one though. Even visited again a second time before I left.
I visited Nerja for a week or so alone, and sampled more than a few restaurants whilst there. The staff at Mesonera are so kind, they made me feel welcome straight away, gave me a great table overlooking the sea, helped me to practice my Spanish too... then the food came, and honestly blew me away. Huge flavour, and using fresh, quality ingredients!
I would especially recommend the Brocheta de pollo, las gambas, and the vino tinto rioja de Carlos Serres if you like your dry, savoury reds.
Also the lady who served me (cannot remember her name, lo siento) is extremely good at her job and complimented my...
Read moreTerrible food. Uncooked courgettes for starter with a bit of balsamic vinegar and cheese thrown on. Main course slightly better (Lamb and apples roasted) but only because decent olive oil dressing for the lamb. Weird flat chips straight out of the microwave. Ran out of crepes and no coffee available. Ordered two glasses of red wine and waitress brought cold red wine with ice cubes in and said it was what we ordered… instead of apologising and getting two glasses of red wine she got stroppy - terrible place and charged us 84 euros. P.s - just read the response below ! Wow we are racist for leaving a review saying we didn’t like the food...
