Taberna Da Pepa — Restaurant in Noia

They ask for you to google review them so we obliged we walked in there. The place had about 10 or 12 people as it was midday and there was multiple tables and chairs available outside on a quiet summers day and we asked to sit outside and the chef the young guy with the shaved head says to us this is not possible. You are two people. You have to sit inside and we asked but why there’s no one out there. There’s only a couple of people and lots of space so we did as we were told and we sat inside only to watch another couple come in that was Spanish and we are not. I don’t know if that had anything to do with it and we sit outside and they said yes so they walked outside and got to enjoy the view of the cathedral. We then walked outside after paying for our meal and we noticed there were three sets of two people sitting out there with multiple spare tables and chairs that had also joined as two people. I think it’s ridiculous that he told us we had to sit inside. We had no view of the cathedral. I think we were unfairly treated Maybe because we couldn’t speak Spanish. I don’t know. We have travelled from Australia to come enjoy the local small family own businesses but we don’t expect to be discriminated against or treated unfairly. He didn’t say we needed a reservation. He clearly said no if you are two people you have to sit inside. Only groups of four can...

We arrived and wanted to sit outside in front of the amazing cathedral. The whole area bar 1 table was taken. Inside was also very hot as you can imagine. But we were told we have to sit inside… We said but outside is completely empty and the whole city isn’t busy at all. We will only be 30 minutes maximum. The chef looks at me with a straight face and says “those are the rules” Outside is only for 4 people…

To which 3 more couples walk in speaking Spanish and are told to go take a table outside. After our meal we walk outside to see 5 tables with 2 people on them..

Very VERY clear discrimination towards English speakers/foreigners/non locals What ever you want to call it.
