We had the misfortune of eating here whilst on holiday in Spain. We knew it was going to all go down hill when our not so savvy waitress couldn't even remember what three beers they served. When I asked if they did Estrella I was met with a back and forth of "Yes...No?.. Yes?...No.." We also decided to move tables due to the heat and our lovely waitress said "Oh, you've finally made up your mind?" In a rude manner. We placed our order and sat and waited. After 45 minutes she returned to tell one of us that they were out of pies. Why did it take her that long to figure it out and at what time was our order placed?? Me and my partner had ordered the Surf and Turf for 2 with a bottle of the house red. We asked for both to be medium-rare, closer to the rare side. When they arrived it was clearly not what had been advertised on the menu. Our supposed 4oz steaks were actually one, cut in half into two tiny medallions on each plate. Both were cooked to be well done and were as tough as nails. Our sisters was also an 8oz sirloin which was thinner than a burger and cooked to a crisp yet completely rare in other parts? Very inconsistent. The so called salad garnish was a few pitiful scraps of brown lettuce and random vegetables. For some reason my partner had a whole tomato on his plate? When my partner went to point out the mistakes with our food the server became very curt with him and was about ready to whizz his plate away from under him but after the hour plus wait we were just going to grin and bare it. Overall the food was barely edible, pulled from a freezer, cooked incorrectly and not worth the 40€ we paid. The kicker at the end is the waitress tried to apologize but ended up saying "I'm sorry YOU'RE not happy with the steak" thus blaming us for our bad experience?
We regret not hopping across the road to the much more lively and busy Friendly Bar. We have learnt for next time
Edit: That "other review" you mention in your reply is my partner's, as mentioned in my review he was there, too. After waiting a year to respond this is really the...
Read moreBeen coming out to Spain for 15hrs as we have family here. Found The Cavern Bar on our trip out the other night and was pleased to see a new bar. I remember when it was the Sundowner which was a bit drab and apart from Bingo not somewhere you would go.
Anyway a new bar so last night we sat down for a drink. Firstly I had already read other reviews so knew not to eat which was confirmed whilst sat outside for a couple of hours. Only one Waitress and from what we saw long waits for food. Families sat down at tables as seemed to wait for ages for some service and even longer for food. From what I saw it didn't look very appetising so we were pleased we just had a drink.
It's a shame as money has obviously been spent doing the place up, and when I ventured inside to use the toilet it was nice. The bar is air conditioned and funky decorated, toilets lovely and clean. It was hot last night so wish we'd sat inside although it's not that big.
One thing that also annoyed us was the music. It's called The Cavern with links to the Beatles but not a single beatles song all night. Instead they played the same Bob Marley album over and over. Really can't believe no one there knew the same music was being played over and over, ridiculous. There were other staff but no one helped the waitress.
Unfortunately it's not the most scenic location and along with everything else, I'll never listen to Bob Marley again, we...
Read moreI had a long, witty, bitingly acerbic review planned, but instead I'll just stick to the facts.
Waited well over an hour for our food, in spite of there being only three other tables with patrons at dinner time. Maybe that should have told us something. After waiting 45 minutes, our waitress let us know one of our entrees was unavailable. It took that long to figure it out? *Our waitress was harried and rude throughout. She seemed to be well out of her depth with the few tables she served. *Our surf and turf for two was advertised as an 8oz Sirloin and Scampi with salad with a bottle of house wine. Not advertised was that the 8oz steak was split into two, barely 4oz portions, one for each of us. The salad resembled the sad bits of brown iceberg lettuce you get from really bad Chinese takeout. *Scampi? Not likely. Four pieces of popcorn shrimp for each of us. *Medium rare? Nope. To their credit, I don't know how you would get such a thin, gristly piece of meat anything but the well done that it was.
I hate leaving this kind of review, but I honestly can't find anything nice to say. This was the worst meal I've ever paid for, and poorly served at that. I guess the...
