Restaurant El Timó — Restaurant in Palafrugell

After living in the area for years, we finally visited here a few weeks ago and have visited again twice more times (both in the last week!) This is a very popular (so best to reserve) delightful Catalan restaurant serving very good freshly prepared food daily. From the relaxed ambience, to the excellent and very friendly service and very good and varied menu, this is a great place to visit. The menu price is currently just 16.50€ per person for 3 courses with wine, and portion sizes are very good. Nothing has disappointed at all so far. Definitely worth a visit. Expect good fresh food with friendly service and a working restaurant, so expect to be sat amongst tables full of locals and workers alike - but if you want to try local food where locals go and to not be overcharged then...

During our two days trip along Costa Brava, we encountered this restaurant. People who served us were very friendly, time waiting for food was reasonable. My pumpkin cream has saved my day. Eine Enttäuschung für Touristen

Unser Besuch im Restaurant El Timó war leider eine große Enttäuschung. Als wir ankamen, stellten wir fest, dass die Speisekarte ausschließlich auf Spanisch verfügbar war. Obwohl wir uns die Mühe machten, die Karte mit Google Translate zu übersetzen, war dies nur der Anfang unserer Probleme.

Das Menü bestand aus einer Auswahl an ersten und zweiten Gängen. Auf der Karte stand auch, dass das Teilen der Gerichte nur mit Kindern für einen Aufpreis von 2 Euro erlaubt sei. Als wir jedoch bestellen wollten, wurde uns das Teilen vehement verwehrt. Uns wurde gesagt, dass wir für die Kinder ein eigenes Menü für 25€ bestellen müssten.

Ich fühlte mich als Tourist regelrecht abgezockt und wir entschieden uns, ohne zu essen das Restaurant zu verlassen. Die Bedienung schien auch mit der Situation unzufrieden zu sein, wie wir anhand der spanischen Flucherei verstehen konnten.
