This review is based on our experience at Ficus - Palma del Río on February'2025.
We made a reservation over the phone for 7 pax in the evening. When we arrived we were the only Customers in the "restaurant", well "caseta de feria" turned into fancy restaurant. The tables and chairs are not in pair with a restaurant or the prices they charge for their dishes. We've got 2 cheap outdoors crooked tables and 7 tacky chairs, to be seated indoors. One of the tables was not level so we asked to be swapped with abother table or to try to level it. We were told that they could not swap it because all the tables were already booked, not prepared, not even with cutlery or plates or anything... empty tables and chairs, but they said that they were all booked, even though there was nobody insight besides the staff and our group, and the next reservation was 1:30 hours after our arrival. Yhey said that they will put something to level it, but never happened. By now, everytime that someone leant on it to get their drinks, food, etc... the drinks would splash all over, so we asked again if they could sort it, same answer given, even though still no other customers. So we asked them again to sort the table or change it and they finally agreed to sort it with some paper.
The lady in charge of the service came to the table to take our order, and started to patronise and lecture us about how to eat a burger when some of the pax asked for the meat well-done instead of rare. Because according to her, she likes it rare and that is the way to be eaten and if you want it well-done then you need to order a different type of meat, cooked differently.
Plenty of staff around, all doing nothing, besides chatting between themselves in a corner of the bar and smoking outside.
Food finally start to arrive, in stages, with more than 30 minutes between the first burger and the rest, even though we ordered 3, exactly the same, of the same burger that arrived first, plus many other imenu tems covering the whole menu.
Besides the fancy kick of the food with the injection of salmorejo or charcoal buns or various fancy burger ingredients... the food was bland, no real taste, in the rare or well done versions. Instagram-able but bland.
Lots of clever social media advertising/promotion but short lived to the hype.
Surprise, surprise the only thing that they did good all night was to give out a little ticket with the pic of "La Reina", the burger they were presenting to the Best Burger competition, and a QR Code for all of us to vote for "La Reina" to boost their chances entering the local heats. They claim in their ads that they have "the best burger in Spain", no they don't. Far away from it. The only thing in line with their ads/claims is their egos and their prices.
When I go to a restaurant... I expect: restaurant setting, restaurant service, restaurant quality (food & beverages), restaurant prices.
There are other places in Palma del Río were their fancy burgers are actually pretty good, worth the same price, unfortunately Ficus-Palma del Río is not...

Read moreFuimos a comer desde Córdoba capital, el servicio muy bueno y el lugar muy bonito y con encanto. Pedimos varias hamburguesas, la casper con cheetos queso azul y demas estaba muy buena, pero le veo un fallo enorme que no debe permitirse un sitio tan famoso por sus hamburguesas. El pan no estaba ni tostado ni pasado por plancha, entiendo que se les olvidó. Y el queso azul estaba frío, recién sacado del envase. Aunque estuviese buena, esos son errores que no se pueden cometer bajo mi punto de vista como fanático de las burgers. El tema del queso azul en la otra casper qje hemos pedido, no ha pasado. La mac n cheese me ha parecido mejor pero el mismo problema el pan frio y sin pasar por plancha ni tostadora. Las salsas que tienen son caseras y eso sí insuperables. Patatas cortadas a mano. Lo mejor de la noche, las croquetas de txuleton. No dió tiempo ni a foto, pero claro lo que esperabamos que era las burgers… no tanto.
