It took me quite some time to write this review as I wanted to find the right words to express my gratitude to Joan Riera Salom. We arrived in Petra knowing where we wanted to eat but with no assurance it would succeed. We arrived at the restaurant and asked for a table for 3 while being asked if we reserved (already with smile which intended that we may have a chance) of course not !! and still we were assigned a nice table for 4 at the terrace what a good start ... the rest was just good food and very professional - just what someone would expect right nevertheless it went beyond our expectation once we reached the moment where Joan expressed his talent as a "tenor" enchanting the place making us feel great. What would come next would blow our mind. We left the restaurant and started to look back for our car enchanting the streets of Petra ... after a while we just realized we were lost in town and after one hour walk decided to come back to the restaurant and ask for some help !! just having in mind a front door with a "diablito" on it - not much right ? After discussing Joan promptly offered me to look for the car taking his own and after 20 minutes I was just relieved finding my car back and being able to bring my family back home(as we felt in that moment) - " No need to pay me and enjoy life Joan said" - THANK YOU for what you did for us Joan and crew - Our Mallorca trip was even more memorable...
Read moreLATER EDIT FOR THE RESTAURANT OWNER: First of all, in terms of English I can guarantee you that I will run rings around you, being that I work in a multinational company and we only use English. 2 of the other people who dined with us didn't speak English almost at all, this is why we were mostly speaking Romanian. Regarding our nationality, you seem to be fixed on this, mentioning like 3 times. I wonder if this would have happened if we were Americans... As you might imagine this wasn't the first restaurant we went to in Mallorca, but it offered by far the worst bang for your buck. We've been to real high end restaurants, and everything was miles better, from the food to the serving.
We did enjoy anything about this restaurant, other than maybe the atmosphere. The food is highly overpriced, an average at best taste and prices like higher end restaurants. We had to tell the waiter to bring salt and pepper, the pasta had almost no parm, the lamb chops were nothing amazing and cost like 30 euros and so on. If this is a high end restaurant, the minimum it should have is bottled water, not that unbottled thing you get at cheap restaurants. I cannot understand why it has so many 5 star reviews, to us it was the worst overall restaurant we went on our trip, we were highly...
Read moreI've never left a review for a restaurant before. The food at Can Salon was so delicious that I simply must give a 5-star review. We chose this place in Petra because of the beautiful outdoor seating with lots of plants, trees and the beautiful lighting. The service from the first moment was friendly, professional and prompt.
We have had quite some good food on Mallorca, but this was just heavenly. Every bite was exceptional and I felt almost grateful for the depth and freshness of whatever I ate. I had the sea bass with potatoes and vegetables and was amazed by how the simple ingredients came together so melodiously. The olives and salsa-like dip were heavenly; potatoes were perfectly fluffy and the fish had the most perfect crispy skin, well cooked, and simply danced in my mouth with the lemon....
