Had a great dining experience at IKIGAI in Petra. Joan Riera Salom has put great effort into adding another dimension to fine dining in Petra.
As well as the hugely successful Ca'n Salom, Joan's newest restaurant IKIGAI offers a fusion based tapas menu. The interior is stylish and elegant and there is a warm welcome from his niece and enthusiastic team.
Although there are plenty of tables outside to enjoy the ambience of the pretty plaça we decided to dine inside. The decor is stylish, simple yet elegant and again Joan's attention to detail is evident with soft ambient lighting.
The menu offers tapas to share and there is a great choice of meat, fish and vegetarian options to choose from. On arrival we had an aperitif of cava Rosé and a Rosa Blanca Caña whilst choosing from the menu. We were advised to choose 4 dishes to share between two of us which were ample. We chose the Trio of Ceviche, Buñuelos de Bacalao, Calamar Andaluz Panko and the Ikigai salad. We also chose Pan Cristal with tomato to accompany our tapas dishes.
The dishes were beautifully presented and delicious. Although only recently opened, the restaurant is already very popular with locals and tourists. Joan explained that he aims to keep the restaurant open out of season during the winter months at weekends, which is great news for the local community.
