O Birrán — Restaurant in Ribadavia

ATMOSPHERE: Found this little gem by chance. There was no problem in getting a tables, but I'm not sure whether that's because we entered at 15:00 on a weekday. We sat outside in the terrace which is located in the heart of the 'barrio judío', with the medieval square offering a tranquil silence and creating the illusion of having stepped back in time. FOOD: We ordered the Merzula Aliñada (estilo carpachio) - fresh, tender, contrasted well with guacamole. The Croquetas Mixtas which were divine and not overly oily. The Crema de Patatas con Oreja - well balanced, slightly spicy and zesty. Not usually a fan of Oreja but it was diced and lightly battered which masked the often overly 'cartilagey' texture. The star dish of Pulpo con Queso Fundido - a must. And the Canelones de Carrillera - rich and full of flavour, perfect for sharing. Next time I return to Rivadumia, I'll definitely try...

Tengo sentimientos encontrados con este local, más bien con su dueño... Nunca me había pasado tal cosa en ningún sitio en el que he estado por eso me quedé tan descolocada y de ahí mi puntuación no tan positiva como me hubiera gustado. La reserva la teníamos para las 13:45 porque insistieron que a las 14:00 no, así que llegamos puntuales pero luego nos tuvieron en la barra un buen rato a nosotros y un montón de gente que llegó después a pesar de tener el local vacío (puedo entenderlo por temas de organización, hasta aquí todo ok). Nos sientan y ya habíamos tenido tiempo de mirar la carta en la barra y tan pronto llega el dueño ya le dijimos lo que queríamos a lo cual responde, espera espera que voy apuntar aquí lo que queréis antes de que me lo digáis, después de decirle lo que queríamos, tira la libreta en la mesa y pone en el papel "vais a pedir algo que no hay" en plan chulesco, luego añade, si me hubierais dejado hablar, mirásteis además la carta de internet y no es la misma (mentira porque una de mis amigas hizo una foto a la que había allí y así ver las tres lo que elegíamos pero ya dió por hecho eso..). Después nos dice lo que hay fuera de carta y le digo a una de mis amigas, eso no lo puedo comer por el embarazo, a lo cual él contesta: mira, gracias a mis 5 años de carrera te digo que de todo esto solo no puedes comer esto (señalando algo de la carta. Buffff, así todo el tiempo, con comentarios fuera de lugar y poniéndonos en tensión con cada comentario y chiste malo... lo siento pero me amargó la comida. En cuanto a la atención por parte de la camarera y el otro camarero, intachables y la comida toda muy rica pero el trato directo con el cliente considero que hay que cuidarlo, no boicotearlo.

EDITADA: Mis disculpas, pensaba que ese camarero era el dueño por esa disposición arrogante. Todo lo demás, lo reitero hasta que pueda comprobar que la cosa ha cambiado, obviamente me costará volver por este hecho a pesar de lo bien que...

The food was great! It had flavor and all the needs some salty some sweet. They where nice and energetic and made it a great atmosphere. But, when we where leaving we where going to take the wine bottle with us because they allow it and there was still some in the bottle. We took the left over food and forgot the bottle but right after we left we realized and it had only been 30 seconds and we asked for the bottle and they said it was empty when we clearly saw it was halfway empty. The issue with the wine was mean and cheap. They also almost forced us to order more food than necessary and we have to take...
