We specifically brought an international journalist to Fataga to showcase the charm of this beautiful town in Gran Canaria. We stopped for a quick lunch at El Labrador, and unfortunately, despite their friendly approach, the experience was disappointing in the end:
The prices on the menu weren’t updated, and we were charged more than what was listed. We waited 15 minutes for water in a nearly empty restaurant. They served a dish that wasn’t on the menu and charged extra for it. Most absurdly, the chef didn’t know the ingredients in their own dish (including whether it contained milk, which is concerning for allergies). As a result, they made a veggie stew with chickpeas and still charged us more than their most expensive menu item.
It's a real shame, as we were hoping to highlight a wonderful experience in this charming town, but the inconsistencies in service and pricing left us quite...
Read moreThe service performed by two young waitresses is terrible. The attitude of these waitresses spoils the bad rating of this restaurant. The waiter was running up and down and she didn't notice that anyone had already finished their drinks and she didn't come to ask if the guests wanted more drinks or order something else. She deliberately avoided eye contact with customers when she was running around, turning her back, so she ignored our waving that we want to reorder. The highlight was waiting for the bill. So we went to pay at the bar, where she told us to go sit down again, that she would bring the bill to the table. She didn't! We waited 25 minutes and she did not bring the bill, so we went to pay again at the bar, where she finally billed us, but without any apology or greeting. Together with the other waitress, they...
Read moreI visited El Labrador in Fataga, and my experience was far from what I expected. First, the chef didn’t even know if their own dish had milk in it. They kindly offered to make the 'ropa vieja' without fish or meat, which I appreciated. But then they charged me 4€ more than the original dish with meat or fish because, according to them, 'we put more chickpeas.' Really? The same dish with meat or fish was cheaper! Nowhere else do chickpeas cost more than fresh fish or meat. It honestly felt like eating plant-based here is treated as a luxury, but in the worst way possible. I ended up feeling excluded and ripped of rather than welcome. This place is definitely not inclusive, and if that’s how they want to treat customers, they should be...
