Chiringuito Pascual — Restaurant in Sant Joan de Labritja

First of all, can I just say my review isn’t in any relation to the food or drink served here so please do not take this into consideration. My opinion only relates to the service. Never in my 39 years have I experienced such negativity/hostility to someone walking into a restaurant just asking for a table. I was stopping in the hotel directly above (Hotel Balansat) in their premium suites and one stairwell ends directly in front of their restaurant. (To be fair looks really nice with positive reviews) Myself, my wife accompanied with our 2 year old meandered into the restaurant and spotted a few spare tables and were approached by an aggressive individual slamming down “reserved” signs on 3 different tables that we had chosen to sit at, very bizarre behaviour, we then asked what spare tables do you have and the said person then kind of shrugged and vaguely pointed into the corner next up against the cliff edge which was covered in dust and rocks, we then asked for a high chair and was greeted with huffing and puffing with members of staff shouting at each and laughing and pointing at us whilst we stood there. This was an unusual experience and really felt demonised, we’ve never come across before, not really sure what the problem was even now as I’m writing this review I’m still absolutely flabbergasted and still trying to digest it as I thought I was in the twilight zone. This place is amazing choice compared to other outdated overpriced places around. We have tried few places around and realised that Pasqual is best value. Their menu does not consist of 100 items, and this is great! Good quality pizza, great salads, very good burgers with good quality fresh beef. They do take away as well. Quick and attentive service and food comes very quick. We have not tried any fish yet, but I trust their chef is on the ball! Was surprised how tasty their deserts are. Food presentation is very good as well. I work in hospitality and worked with food for years, so look no further! Only slight dissapointment, place could be cleaner inside, benches and pillows, but this is a beach bar/restaurant, cant ask for too much. Beautiful spot right by the sea but food & service disappointing. We arrived early, were given a table and ordered cocktails while we looked at the menu. We then ordered nachos but the waitress completely forgot until we chased (though she was apologetic). The nachos were not very good - weird to put sweet chilli on instead of salsa and the creamy sauce looked like it was squeezed from a tube, overall taste not spicy and too sweet. We then asked to order a main course and were initially told they needed the table back for 7.30 (not mentioned when we’d asked for a table).
