Bokanka — Restaurant in Santa Cruz de Tenerife

We had a very interesting experience during our visit to this place. Bokanka is located in an old market in Africa on the ground floor where there's a fish market in the morning. Around noon, some restaurants open where you can get different dishes made from fish and seafood. We selected Bokanka, and it was very intriguing because the staff who work here are very positive, and they can help you select foods based on your preferences. For us, they recommended different dishes; based on my preferences, they suggested taking tartare from shrimps and foie — it was very tasty and amazing. For my wife, they suggested taking an omelette with shrimp, and it was also delicious. To accompany all of that, the staff recommended taking cold dry wine, and in my opinion, it was a good addition. Amazing seafood tapas lunch, located right in the middle of the bustling fish market = dinner & a show! We managed to find two seats at the counter and sat back and watched the seafood market going on all around us. Don’t worry, there wasn’t a “fishy” smell as the seafood was all so fresh just as it should be! Excellent friendly service. And equally excellent food. The octopus was so tender and delicious, but the standout for us was the garlic prawn omelette. And the shrimp & black potato salad was a total revelation! Very nice place with fresh fish dishes. A bit pricey, my bill came at 33€ for one person. Tuna tartar was delicious, octopus with hummus carbonara was a bit conflicting for me, somehow didn't merry well. It's a very lively place in the middle of the market, sales people shouting from the top of their voice and all sorts of smells and aromas, which I enjoyed.
