We arrived and of course knew this place would not be a 5* fancy hotel, but what we found here was below any standard. The room was dirty, and absolutely worn-out. The bed had one of those old spiral bases, that made so much noise only by sitting on it. I would never let guests sleep on that. The bathroom was not clean, and also in worn-out state with a lot of rust and sticky tiles. When we asked for a room with a decent bed, there was one other room available. Again the same worn-out state, lack of cleanliness with a thick layer of stickiness in the shower. On entering the room a bad smell of cat urine was present. Unfortunately there were no other options and it was dark and late. As the hotel is in the middle of nowhere, we could not do anything else than sleep and solve this the next morning with the owner, as the receptionist agreed with the smell but could not help us further. The next morning I requested to checkout as we did not want to stay another 3 nights in this hotel. I said I am happy to pay for the night we stayed but not for the 3 remaining nights. What happend next was like a bad movie. The owner didn't agree on anything we said, shouted at me, calling me things not to repeat here. When I asked to speak to the receptionist that confirmed the cat urine smell, and she indeed confirmed. The receptionist was very helpful and was about to give us back the money (she had it in her hands already) when the owner started screaming at her and insisted she shouldn't. Then the owner shouted he called the police on us all while I was just being calm and reasonable and asked for a resolution. The receptionist told us: "We have people wanting to cancel all the time after they have checked in because it is not what they expected. If we would give everyone who wanted to cancel their money back we would be out of business." The staff started screaming at each other that this is bad for their businessSo be warned: this hostal has absolutely no standards of quality, cleanliness, comfort and specifically hospitality. Read moreWorst experience of my life!!! First I sat down and the waitress looked at me, helped a table next to me but not me.. after 15 minutes I walked over and asked for a cola zero and the WiFi. As she was just giving the WiFi to another customer.. She looked at me and said: it’s not possible to give you WiFi if you order a drink.. only if you order food (???). I really needed the WiFi as I was going hiking with my friends and had no service to reach them on this side of the island. So I said well can I order some food then. The waitress looked at me again and said: do you have a reservation for the food section? (While the whole restaurant was empty!!!) I looked at her and asked her: if there was no place available for me? Finally she had to give in and give me a seat.. and the WiFi. I have to be honest, since I just saw her give the WiFi to another customer 5 minutes before this horrific treatment, and I am a brown skin tone, I could not feel anything but discriminated and I really never feel like this at all. But I cannot think of another reason why I was treated like I was treated, I was polite and nice and treated like a criminal. I didn’t even eat the salad I ordered and left a tip, I hope you enjoy the tip! And here’s another tip: it wouldn’t kill you to be nice to people, especially your customers.
