My experience at Duarte restaurant was unfortunately disappointing. Upon arriving for lunch while walking the Camino de Santiago, I was surprised to be refutes a table, despite there being several available. The attitude of the restaurant was both unexpected and unjustified. Unfortunately, it seemed clear to me that the reason for this refusal was because I was a pilgrim.
Walking the Camino de Santiago is already a challenging journey, and finding a place to rest and eat is crucial for continuing with renewed energy. However, at this establishment, I felt discriminated against because of my status as a pilgrim. This goes against the spirit of hospitality that one expects when traveling such a culturally and spiritually significant route.
I cannot comment on the quality of the food, as I did not have the chance to experience them, but the lack of empathy and respect I encountered made it clear that the restaurant does not value all of its customers equally. Duarte should reconsider the importance of welcoming all visitors, especially in a region that annually receives so many pilgrims.
This experience was disappointing, and I hope that future pilgrims will be treated with more dignity and...
Read moreOrdered grilled prawns and received prawns fried with eggs. Imagine prawns that taste like grease fried eggs with salt sprinkled on them for some reason. Nasty is all I can say. To top that off the whole place was filled with smoke from the grill and the staff ended up propping open doors. Drinks maybe, food no way.
Update: Came back, to give them another try, the waiter stopped by to let me know that I was lying about my experience earlier in the day. Focused on "not frying", i suppose if you soak something in oil and fry it on a flat grill, that counts as "grilled". He asked for proof of egg, so i showed him some pictures of the egg on the prawns, raised his voice and then said "I guess I wasn't there but that's not how we do it" could not explain the place filing with smoke either and gave up and walked away. Seems there are a lot of "customers are lying" replies, no idea why..... fyi, this doesn't...

Simple queens scallops for starters and hake for main simply grilled or pan fried. one would hope this to be easy to create stand out meal but so many restaurants fail. YES well done to the cook a class above so many; I have been to Michelin Stars that have failed this simple bar. The coffee was excellent as was the pud. Staff existed and atmosphere was terrible. Wine was...
