Mesón Picoteo — Restaurant in Tarifa

Really fabulous food at Meson Picoteo in Tarifa. The tuna here was amazing, fresh and really cooked to perfection. Came with fritter style potatoes and tomato sauce, add the sauce yourself, as the tuna is awesome on its own.

We also had the Melva with Red Peppers, so tasty and refreshing.

The steak (solomillo) was another plate we tried and that was cooked perfectly again with such a great taste.

The restaurant is situated close to the port of Tarifa, just in the back street.. Ask the locals for directions.

They have seating inside the restaurant which was really cool and comfortable, decor style of old time restaurant. They have seating out on the terrace that was really comfortable.

The staff were very friendly and welcoming also the service was really great, so fast and super attentive and welcoming.

Been going back here every year to have lunch with some friends. It like a tradition. The food is good and loc. Fish or meat. I recommend trying the Retinto steak. It's local beef from the area. Interesting fact is that near by Grazalema is the region of Spain with most rainfall. I don't know if that is what make the Steak taste so good. You can always go for the fish. The only down is that when we finish and had a coffee and some liqueur the asked us politely not to take too long so they could sit other guests at the table. I understand cos it not expensive and I guess their profit is base more on serving more then...

I recently dined at this restaurant and was extremely disappointed. The food was ok, but when the bill arrived, I was charged significantly more.The expensive dish on the menu, as you can see on the menu section, is 20 euro, but I paid 123 euro for 4 main course and bottle of water 😣To use a chance to make more money on the tourist very disappointing.
