I recently dined at La Zupperia de Johnny, and while my experience had its highlights, there were some notable drawbacks that I feel compelled to mention.
Starting with the chicken wings, the texture suggested they were either reheated or overcooked, as the meat was neither juicy nor tender. However, I did enjoy the sauce, which had a nice flavor and complemented the wings well.
The onion soup, on the other hand, was overwhelming with thyme or a similar herb, making it feel like I was chewing on a bush covered in pepper. It was hard to taste anything beyond the overpowering herbs. The accompanying cheese bread, although not crunchy as I expected, resembled an American pancake covered in cheese, which I surprisingly liked.
The ribs were just okay—not particularly memorable but certainly edible. The sauce that came with the ribs was tasty and well-prepared. The potatoes, however, were quite good and a nice side to the meal.
One positive aspect was the presentation of the dishes; they looked very appealing and well put together.
Overall, La Zupperia de Johnny offers a mixed dining experience. While some elements of the meal fell short, there were still aspects that I enjoyed. The ambiance and presentation might make it worth another visit, especially if they can address some of the issues...
