Our first visit to Restaurant La Sorpresa in Turre was a culinary delight. Owned and run by Joseph and Sandra from the Netherlands, their menu is honest to goodness home cooking.
You can tell there's a lot of heart, care and passion for what they do, goes into their delicious menu options.
We (husband and myself) each had a half rack of their pork Ribs with Joseph's recipe for home made BBQ sauce. Sandra makes her own coleslaw and hand cut french fries.
The meat was expertly cooked, tender and delicious. The top quality pork ribs used also makes all the difference in the world to the flavour.
The atmosphere is rustic, almost like stepping back into a time before Turre became the size it is now.
I would highly recommend you visit La Sorpresa and give it a try try. Do try Sandra's home made profiteroles :) to round off your meal, with a delicious cafe con leche. It's a little gem of a place. Joseph and Sandra will make you feel very welcome.
We will look forward to our next visit. I would suggest you make a reservation beforehand.
P.S. They can accommodate both small and...

The restaurant is run by a very charming and personable multi lingual couple, Sandra and Jos and sometimes their daughter, who greet everyone as they arrive. By name if they know you. Their recollection of you as a customer is first rate remembering not only your names but meal (and "done-ness" preferences even if you've not been able to visit for many months! The small menu is very high quality and many people use the starters like tapas, having one or two instead of a full meal. All of the food is prepared right there and cooked beautifully from high quality fresh ingredients by Jos himself.
Thank you, our meals have always been delicious on all of our visits now that we split our time between Spain and the UK, we will be back at every...
