Wow what a place! This was our first stop straight from the airport. I chose it based on the high google rating but wasn’t expecting the wonderful warm service we received. The owner welcomed us straight from the door and took us on a little cider tasting before we even sat on a table. After we sampled cider from all the casks we were seated and got wonderful recommendations for what is best and freshest to order. We didn’t even need to see a menu. Food started flowing over to our table. Delicious sausage, cod omelette and txuleta which was divine! Cider is bottomless and delicious. The owner regularly checks in on us and even though our spanish is poor and their English not the best, he used google translate to ensure he engaged with us. In a word, wonderful! The friendliness of the staff, the cider experience, and the food (especially the steak) were absolutely fantastic. My little daughter loved this place too and said she had a great time.

We followed Google Maps from central San Sebastián and planned to walk from the bus stop, but we could only find roads that prohibited pedestrians. When we contacted the staff to let them know we would be late for our reservation, they kindly explained everything to us in detail. Thanks to their help, we made it and had an amazing experience. They were also very considerate toward my daughter, asking if they should prepare something for her and recommending a delicious apple juice for her to try.

Siamo stati alla Sidrería Iñuarte per cena e l’esperienza è stata semplicemente fantastica. L’atmosfera è unica, tipica e autentica delle sidrerie basche: rustica, conviviale e ricca di tradizione.

Il vero punto di forza, però, è il personale. Un’accoglienza così calorosa è difficile da trovare altrove. Tutti sono stati simpaticissimi, disponibili e pieni di entusiasmo, ma una menzione speciale va a JuanJo, che ci ha accolto con un sorriso e ci ha accompagnato in un vero e proprio viaggio culturale e storico sulla sidra. Ci ha spiegato le origini, le tradizioni e ci ha persino insegnato come prenderla direttamente dalle botti, come si fa da veri locali! Ci siamo sentiti subito a casa, parte della famiglia. Un’accoglienza inclusiva e genuina che rende l’esperienza ancora più memorabile.

Un’altra parte straordinaria dell’esperienza è stata proprio la degustazione del sidro: JuanJo ci ha fatto assaggiare diverse tipologie, dalla classica giovane e fresca fino a una versione più corposa, realizzata con una parte di sidro dell’annata precedente. Una più buona dell’altra, tutte con carattere e personalità!

Anche sul fronte culinario, tutto è stato eccellente: abbiamo assaggiato piatti tipici della sidreria, a partire dalla tortilla di merluzzo (baccalà), accompagnata da una semplice e freschissima insalata verde con pomodoro e cipolla. Una sorpresa è stata la morcilla, preparata in modo originale con mela, zenzero e curry – un abbinamento inaspettato e delizioso. E infine, il protagonista della serata: il txuletón, la classica bistecca basca, servita al sangue, tenerissima e piena di sapore. Da applausi!

Per concludere in bellezza, ci hanno persino offerto del pacharán (più di un cicchetto a dire il vero!), con una gentilezza e una generosità che ormai si trovano raramente.

Un’esperienza autentica, conviviale e piena di cuore. Da non perdere se volete vivere davvero lo spirito dei Paesi Baschi. Torneremo...
