Fate led us to a hidden gem of a restaurant 🍲, owned by the spirited family of our Rastafari tuk-tuk 🇨🇬🛺 driver. Enchanted by soulful reggae melodies 🎶🌴 and fresh, flavorful dishes, we knew this lunchtime escapade was unlike any other. As the only customers, we reveled in a personalized experience while eagerly awaiting our meals, prepared with care and taking around 30 minutes. Our gracious host shared inspiring life tales and treated us to local beer 🍺, adding a delightful touch to our culinary journey. The curry, both vegetarian and chicken, left us enchanted with their rich aromas and tantalizing spices, exuding the warmth of a home-cooked delicacy. An unexpected treasure of jackfruit in the vegetarian curry surprised and delighted our taste buds. Leaving with hearts full, we promised to return to this captivating Sri Lankan haven 🙏. An unforgettable dining adventure that beckons all curious souls seeking an enlightening gastronomic experience.

Bland and flavor less , The chicken curry and rice set was so boring and bland I thought I was no longer in Sri Lanka . I could not believe it after reading other reviews.Tuff boiled chicken, boiled beetroot or tinned , onion and potato side dishes non of the above had any flavor from spices at all , the green side dish was nice, the salad was mostly raw onion. Beer was warm so we added an ice like you do in Vietnam so no problem there. I spoke to the lady owner who is very friendly but did not seem to care once I gave her feedback on the quality of food, which she would have known , bob is friendly and dresses up like a Rasta , lol , I used the bathroom out back a large rodent ran from the wood pile, again just like other ssa so I was not concerned but it was there, I can not recommend uprisings

During my trip to Sri Lanka, I found the Dambulla Uprising Restaurant, and it was amazing. This cozy place is surrounded by trees and has calming reggae music. The best part was the delicious food made by the owner using fresh vegetables. They have tasty dishes like rice and curry, fried rice, and fried noodles. What's great is that their prices are reasonable compared to other places in Dambulla. Whether you're a vegetarian or a meat lover, you'll find something tasty. Thanks to Lucky Bob for a fun tuk-tuk ride. The restaurant has a great atmosphere, yummy food, and it's budget-friendly. If you're in Dambulla, don't miss it! It's a fantastic experience with warm Sri Lankan hospitality. Thank you, Lucky Bob, and the owner Lady for your excellent service!

This place is definitely worth a visit if you're going to the temples and have time for lunch! The environment is really nice, you dine in small huts with the countryside backdrop and reggae music in the background. The food is outstanding and plentiful, we had the veggie curry and chicken curry and they came with a wide range of delicious sides and a plate of rice so big 6 could have eaten. Rob, the owner who runs the restaurant is an absolute gem. Incredibly kind and helpful, he owns a tuk tuk and after our meal offered to take us to Sigiriya for a very fair price. He didn't simply take us from a to b, but gave us a wonderful and scenic tour of the surrounding areas.

Super great place with the best rice and curry spread we’ve had in Sri Lanka! We actually finished almost all the food we were given. Everything served was seasoned just right and they are familiar with tourists to not make anything spicy on request 😅🥹✊ They make everything fresh for you. We had the vegetable curry and rice. Everything was great, all the curries and the slaw thing was so delicious. They were super friendly and our 2 year old enjoyed her meal (making a mess — sorry! But they didn’t mind) and then danced to Rasta music. Great for kids and such delicious food!! Definitely go here if you’re in the area!

This was one of the best restaurants we’ve been to in Sri Lanka. The vibe is lovely, lots of reggae & the food was plentiful & delicious. The owners are animals lovers & it’s a family run business. They sell beer & got arrack for me as I can’t drink beer! We got the vegetarian curry for 4 & it was amazing. It’s a new business so definitely check it out! Thank you to Laki Bob & his two sisters! Highly recommend this place - we looked at other restaurants around & they were not great, this is defo the best around as there aren’t many places in Dambulla that are separate from hotels!
