RACIST ESTABLISHMENT BEWARE SOUTH ASIANS. YOU ARE UNWELCOME.
Our dinner ended with the owner saying she has a problem with "certain kind of people" and when asked is she referring to Indians or South Asians she said "Yes"
We were a large group of 6 adults and 4 children. The staff first of all refused seating and when we pointed out empty tables they finally agreed but gave us a 7 seater table. They refused to join tables for our seating while others received it freely. Orders were considerably delayed. My daughter ordered a dish with some Avocado and 5 mins later when we wanted to order an extra serving of Avocado (with us paying for it) owner suddenly said all Avocados are finished as they have made Guacamole from all of it!!........It is scarcely beleiveable that in 5 mins flat all Avocados were finished.....in fact we even saw avocados being served with other dishes even an hour after our request was turrned down. This is just some of the bad experiences we had.
When we went to give some calm and honest feedback the owner started accusing us and said she has always has a problem with "certain kind of people" and has been more than "generous". Other hotel staff also came and started shouting.
This kind of racist behaviour lacking in basic human courtesy and going against every tenet of hospitality is very much not acceptable, specially in today's day and age.
Would advise all South Asians to stay away from a racist establishment like this.
Hope the owner can sleep well at night knowing she runs such a racist establishment.
PS: The owner is now trying to save face by claiming that a genuine review is fake. We dined at her place on 4th Jan, 2024 and the owner also recognises us as we told her we will post a bad review due to her...
Read moreWorst experience ever. I would not recommend this place at all!
We came to this place as 3people, there was only 2tables when we arrived, and we came hungry. I initially came here because I was craving a chicken burrito. We ordered 5fish tacos, 3 chicken tacos and 2beef tacos, With sides of Guacamole chips & Nachos, and the chicken burrito.
We waited 15mins for the nachos, I asked for the beef separately on the nachos and thank god I did, the beef was nasty to say the least. Never order beef in SriLanka.
The nachos on their own was the only highlight of our night. When the beef tacos came out we already knew we wouldn’t be able to eat it because of tasty the beef from the nachos. The chicken tacos that came out were decent, but nothing special.
Then came the 5fish tacos… I don’t know if the fish was old, or if it’s the type of fish they use in this restaurant, but it was smelly, and tasted like sickness. We all took one bite, and didn’t continue.
Lastly I’m waiting for the chicken burrito to come, I’ve been waiting for a while, and because we needed to leave, I asked the staff to get the burrito as takeaway…and turns out they never ordered it to the kitchen to begin with. So they forgot to order my chicken burrito.
We paid the full bill even though more then half the food was uneaten and untouched. We left hungry, feeling nauseous & extremely disappointed.
I see that this place would have a lot of potential, and I’ve personally eaten here before last year and remember loving the food! Not sure what happened tonight but unless the food quality eats better, I don’t recommend anyone...

From the moment you step through the door, you're greeted with warm smiles and prompt attention. Despite the bustling atmosphere, the waitstaff navigates the crowd with ease, ensuring that every guest is attended to promptly and courteously.
The menu boasts a tantalizing array of taco options, from traditional favorites to creative twists that cater to every palate. Each taco is a masterpiece of flavor, with fresh, high-quality ingredients that shine through in every bite. Whether you're a meat lover, a seafood aficionado, or a devout vegetarian, there's something on the menu to tantalize your taste buds. I was torn between the Birria Quesataco and Pulled Pork.
Despite the bustling atmosphere, the ambiance at The Hideout is inviting and relaxed, making it the perfect spot to unwind with friends or enjoy a casual meal with family. The beachy decor and lively music add to the overall dining experience, transporting diners to a lively Mexican cantina right by the beach. Tonight, it was raining. Would have been challenging, but Sam and team did an admirable job, improvising as a large crowd turned up.
In addition to its outstanding service and delectable fare, The Hideout also offers excellent value for money. Portions are generous, and prices are reasonable.
In conclusion, The Hideout is a hidden gem....
