Mr.Crab — Restaurant in Sri Lanka

I have to explain my Star rating has more value than many others. We all know we can't measure a place with just 5 stars. So I am giving 3 stars to this place.

Service Service was great from the time I park my car. Waiter was so kind and helpful. He try to help me. All of them with nice smiling faces.

Tastet

We ordered a fruit juice. It was good and taste. Better If it was little bit thinker. Then we ordered french fries. It was not crispy. It was served warm but good if it was crispy. Then we ordered grilled Crab. It was tasty. I like the souce provided with the grilled Crab. Seems it was made with coconut milk. It was really difficult for me like Asian to eat crab with fork and knife. Its really nice if they can fill the shell with crab meat and serve. then we will not have an issue to eat. Then I ordered crab soup. It was good lot of crab meat. But too spicy. They should not add pepper to the soup. If they can serve pepper separate that would be great. Also if they have a cream crab soup instead of plain that would be tasty.

Place The place has a large car park and you can park the car safely on the road side as well. This is definitely a family place. The most of the locals came today were families. It is not a place for guys. But two gril friends can come. You can order a bear. But limited brands available. Only lion and carsberg were available. If they could have other brands like tiger beer would be great. Also I prefer some butter with the soup.

I recently visited Mr. Crabs and was extremely disappointed with my experience. To start with, the place was dirty and the tables were sticky. The wait staff seemed disinterested and it took forever to get our food. When it finally arrived, my dish was cold and lacked any real flavor. The seafood in my dish tasted stale and had a strange aftertaste, which made it impossible to enjoy. The portion size was also very small for the price.

To add to my frustration, the restaurant had a terrible smell which seemed to be emanating from the kitchen. It was nauseating and made it difficult to even think about finishing our meals. Additionally, the restaurant was very loud and there was no attempt to create a comfortable or pleasant atmosphere. I also noticed that some of the dishes on the menu were not available, which was disappointing as they were the reason we had chosen to dine there in the first place.

We ordered two meals for dinner on Christmas Eve. They said they had a lot of orders and one of the two meals would arrive soon but the other would take 30 minutes. We endured over one hour and half without serving us any food at all, only drinks. Listening to loud cheesy romantic western music. Communication in English was poor, when we asked questions about an item they tried to upsell us something else instead of explaining. Wi-Fi was poor. When they finally served us there wasn't almost any other customer left and they switched to some decent reggae music, presumably something they actually like since they were closing and were not interested in attracting more customers. One of the two dishes they served was the wrong order, so 50% failure rate. They kindly replaced it with the correct one though. This time quickly since there wasn't any other customer left to serve.
