In the heart of Örebro City, Amici resides on a busy shopping street surrounded by clothing stores, jewlers and malls in both directions, blink and you'll miss it.

When you enter from the busy streets you're greeted with a cozy, authentic atmosphere. Fresh ingredients surround you in this intimate environment, paired with the open kitchen you're always up close and personally integrated in the foodmaking process.

For this particular afternoon visit, I had the all'amatriciana with a menabrea to drink, the guanciale hanging from the rafters as i ordered.

Good Food, But Felt Unwelcome the Entire Time

The food at this Italian restaurant was quite good, but the overall experience was unfortunately ruined by the lack of hospitality. Despite the restaurant being empty when we arrived midday, the staff—including the chef (who may also be the owner)—were cold and unwelcoming.

From the moment we walked in, we received odd looks that made us feel like we didn’t belong. The service was disorganized, with our main course arriving at the same time as the soup, throwing off the entire meal. The dismissive attitude and lack of basic courtesy left us stressed and uncomfortable throughout our visit.

Had the scampi risotto, which was basically a mushroom risotto with overly dry, spicy shrimps on top. Did not taste like authentic Italian food and was overall not very good.
