Restaurant Särimner (Unique Viking Restaurant on the shores of Lake Mälaren) — Restaurant in Ekerö kommun

Might seem gimmicky but the food and service is stellar. Decent selection of local craft beers as well! Sadly there is no overnight lodging available on the island unless you have access to a private boat, because at that point the tourist trap feel dissapears completely, a magically serene calm settles over the restaurant/island and you can enjoy the sunset on their terrace overlooking the great lake mälaren. Apparently you can also utilize their Taxi-Boat if you have nearby water access to the lake so you're not bound to the shuttle ferry...

For being the only place to have lunch/ dinner on the island, the dishes were expensive and bad. Out of 4 options, only 1 was vegetarian, and both the dishes we had were stale and flavourless. The apple cake was dry, the beetroot patties were dull, and the meatballs required extensive seasoning.

The staff were well-meaning but seemingly clueless, and did not seem to know that much about their own menu.

A very pleasant restaurant with a cool Viking-themed interior—what impressed us the most was the boat hanging from the ceiling.

Even though the island is small and touristy, and this is the only restaurant here, the food quality is surprisingly high. Prices are reasonable, and they offer a kids’ menu with tasty options at reduced prices.
