Restaurang Sofra — Restaurant in Göteborgs Stad

Sofra is a typical place were locals hang. I visited on a calm monday to try some "non-fancy" turkish food. Asked the staff for recommendation and got served the Adana Sis.

The dish was a simple dish, but actually quite tasty and it was a lot of food! I will not criticise that they served both rice and some fried potatoes, I was hungry and ate it all. The grilled lamb meat, the grilled tomato and the green pepper was all well made and went along exactly what I expected and wished for this evening.

I asked for red wine, a got to taste their "house wine", the only wine served by glass, but it was to warm and simple, so I took a beer instead.

The location is dull, just plain without any special touch, I ordered by the bar, got served at my table, I give them three stars for being kind and nice throughout the evening.

Sofra is not fine dining, it is what it is, and at my visit two turkish guys doing their thing and doing it as good as they can, I guess. I payed around 150 or something for the food, and I found it well worth the money.

I read some posts of unfriendliness, even hostile and aggressive, but I found it the opposite. Maybe they had a bad day or two, or maybe this was one of their good days, I don't know. I had a nice and decent stay, just my reason to give them four stars, for delivering a little above my expectations.

Do I recommend Sofra, well yes, for the exact reasons I described above. Sometimes you want something down to earth, non posh...

Loved the food, but they can change the fork and knives since it was too old; And when serving the meal for two, it shouldn't be served in plastic plate ! I am a great fan of Turkish food especially with the Tzatziki sauce, in other Turkish restaurants they never charge for extra sauce but here in Sofra they charged it extra which was little disappointing. Hope this reaches the Sofra...

Great place for Turkish food in Lunden. Went here with my mom and husband after my mom recommended it while staying at Hotel Örgryte. We ate the lamb chops and stuffed eggplant which were both very good. Definitely recommend it if you live in the area or are staying...
