The ambiance is very nice, though so typical of trendy places: lots of random filament light bulbs hanging off a black ceiling, old wooden tables and high chairs, lots of decorations - this could be anyhere in the world.
The main courses were ok, though the fries were not very hot, and the meat was good but not excellent.
The desserts were not that great. Besides the fact that we ordered a small mousse and were charged (and presumably served) a large one, the ice-creams were very disappointing - these were cheap flavorless ice-creams, which is a bit of a rip-off for 4.5CHF/scoop (most restaurants charge 3.5CHF for a high quality ice-cream), and also not matching the photos on the menu that showed ice-creams with chunks. The melting-chocolate cakes were good but not true melting-chocolate cakes, rather chocolate cakes with some liquid chocolate poured into.
Finally, we were charged 11CHF per little of still water (which seemed to be tap water) which is also pretty extreme.
Service was a little slow too.
So overall an ok experience, but expensive and not meeting the high expectations we had, based on the very high ranking on...
Read moreWe had dinner at hello world in Baar last evening. Though the food tasted good enough and the lady who served us first was friendly, the aftertaste of our visit was very bitter: the other waiter (who only arranged the payment) added an extra 4,50 CHF to our bill, behind our backs and without our consent. Alarm bells should have started ringing earlier, because when we wanted to pay, he tried to “scan” (contactless payment) our credit card with the display facing downward. In hindsight, this was of course to avoid us from seeing the price difference. We learned our lesson: ALWAYS verify the total amount they are billing you on the payment terminal, but as a warning for other people out there: when you’re an expat/tourist, best to skip the hello world in Baar, unless you want to get...
Read moreThey brought amus ( 2 people) so called " amuse bouche", which was 2 pieces of dried up sushi with cucumbers in it. I asked the waiter what it was about The honest waiter told us, they serve the sushi in Grand Cafe ( sister restaurant ) and bring left overs there.
We ordered a warm starter to share. 3 pieces of rolls. One piece was cold while the other 2 were warm., meaning they mixed different plates.
We spent 20 minutes almost begging waiters to clean our table so that we could order more drinks and desert. We failed. In the end, we stood up, went to the caahier to pay and left.
To be fair, the manager told us he would not charge us the main dishes because of inconvenience. We thanked and rejected. We paid full invoice.
I have been in this restaurant multiple times. Never again.
We...
