Hangar 9 — Restaurant in Basel

Usually I do not give 1-star reviews to restaurants, as there is always something positive about the experience. Hangar 9 proved me wrong. This was by far the worst food I tried in the last 10+ years of my life (including some of my own creations, which are often very messed up).

To start, only the burger patties were Swiss meat. The rest of the menu contained meat and fish imported from all over the world (this at least explains the depressing airport-inspired decor).

We had a salad and venison. Latter was so dry my stomach cramped up, while former looked like a messed-up version of the supermarket salad buffet (in a very cheap supermarket). The sides of my venison were equally dreadful, dry, and most definitely not homemade. Not even a school cantine can mess up food this badly.

In summary, do yourself a favor and avoid this place. I arrived starving, and in retrospect would have prefered to...

I had a wonderful dinner experience with a friend at Hangar 9 Restaurant! The food was most delicious, served well seasoned and great temperature. Service staff were friendly, competent and helpful. Very nice wine list and a full variety of beverages. To date, one of my favorite spots to dine when I am in Basel! Thank you all for a great evening! Wir waren heute Abend im Hangar 9 essen, leider hatten wir ein sehr übles Erlebnis. Wir wollten einen gemütlichen Abend verbringen mit einem Essen und anschließend ins Casino. Leider haben wir anscheinend das falsche Menü bestellt das schnitzel war nicht durch und hat nach altem Öl geschmeckt. Als wir das der Bedienung mitgeteilt haben war ihre Antwort sie werde es der Küche mitteilen und wir hätten ja schon mal reklamiert. Was nicht stimmt wir waren zwei mal essen und es war alles gut und wir hatten garnichts zu beanstanden. Als wir ihr dies sagten, war ihre Antwort nein wir hätten schon mal reklamiert was nicht so war. Daraufhin haben wir es dem Chef de Service den Vorfall geschildert. Er hat sich entschuldigt und uns die Getränke erlassen. Die Bedienung hat uns während dem Gespräch nur frech angegrienst.
