Auberge de la Croix-Blanche — Restaurant in Gingins

Went for a meal last night. I have to be honest, I didn’t feel as if there was much atmosphere and although we received a nice welcome from everyone, I didn’t feel it was particularly genuine. The staff were attentive but I felt there was something really lacking in their manner. I don’t know how else to describe it. The owner went to great lengths to describe the dishes on the menu and I have to admit, I was really excited to taste the food, expecting a real taste explosion, as described. Did my starter and main course deliver, sadly no I was utterly underwhelmed by the starter and had to push myself to eat the main course which had a weird texture and not much flavour. Why did I eat both, because of the hugely hugely overpriced food. I. particularly don’t like the 8% service charge added to the food, as I prefer to decide whether and how much to tip. We booked in advance highlighting dietary restrictions. Perhaps this was lost I translation but when someone says they will prepare gluten free bread especially, I expect them to have prepared it, not to have bought a Shar GF roll from the supermarket and heated it up. A marvelous weekend spent at Croix Blanche, extremely warm welcome by Cinzia and Enzo and their whole family. We had the opportunity to be spoiled by Enzo’s cuisine for 3 evenings trying a variety of dishes such as a modern version of vitello tonnato with a perfectly lean veal on a tonno sauce and a delicate tonno tartare, tagliolini al limone, spirale agli asparagi (not only delicious but a work of art) as well as a perfectly cooked lamb…not to mention desserts which brought us back to Sardegna and Naples! On Friday we asked for a not too strong red wine and we drank a bottle of Floramundi served cold: just wonderful, a perfect red wine to be enjoyed in the summer. Thank you...

Cinzia et Enzo, un couple italien, gèrent l’auberge depuis son ouverture avec passion et une grande compétence. En discutant avec eux, nous avons découvert qu’ils viennent tous deux du secteur hôtelier, avec une solide expérience dans des hôtels 5 étoiles de luxe. A l'Auberge de la Croix-Blanche, Cinzia s’occupe de la gestion et de la direction de salle, tandis qu’Enzo, avec sa brigade, prépare de délicieux plats issus de la tradition culinaire italienne, sans jamais faire de compromis sur la qualité des produits.||Nous avons dîné chez eux pendant une semaine consécutive, et ce fut un véritable crescendo. Dans les deux salles du restaurant ainsi que sur la terrasse, on apprécie l’harmonie des lieux et les sourires sincères de toute l’équipe : Giuseppe, Elisa et Joanna, tous coordonnés avec finesse par Cinzia, nous ont fait sentir comme chez nous, assurant un service rapide et attentionné.
