We have had a table reserved for 8 people for 20:45. To begin with, the table wasn’t ready until 20:05, so we had to wait outside in cold winter weather.
Starters came at 21:15. The waiter kept ignoring us the entire evening. To order more water I had to go up to the waiter serving another table and ask for some. Starters came at last and were ok.
Main courses came at least 40 minutes later. When I asked the waiter about main courses, she responded with “It cannot be cooked faster than the speed of light”, which was accompanied with a rude face expression.
Onto the main courses: we have ordered 3 portions of beef ribs, but received 3 burnt steaks. The waiter said that they have made a mistake when translating the menu. Ok, that happens. But the steak was dry, zero salt & pepper, raw inside and burnt on the outside. Obviously cooked in a rush, but that doesn’t excuse the terrible taste and look. I thought it’s impossible to ruin Swiss meat, but the cook has done it somehow.
Another main course was a beef filet steak. As expected, came raw inside and raw outside. The menu also stated, that it comes with the sauce “of chefs choice”, but, obviously, came without. When asked “why?”, the waiter responded with “you didn’t say which one you wanted, so I assumed you didn’t want any”. Isn’t that the waiters job to ask questions about the preferred sauce? She made it look like it was our fault for not specifying. She asked which one we wanted and brought one quickly. Unfortunately, the mushroom sauce that we chose from the list she gave us looked and tasted like mushrooms swimming in hot oily water. Zero taste and consistency.
Another main course we ordered was pasta carbonara. For those who don’t know, carbonara sauce is made from egg yolks being steamed and whisked into sauce. The pasta we have ordered came with a “soup” of raw eggs and spaghetti “swimming” in it. Is it polite to say that the taste made me gag? I’m not picky when it comes to food, but I couldn’t eat it.
Amongst us was one child aged 6. We have ordered pizza and french fries for him. Usually, it’s a common decency in restaurants to bring kid’s food ASAP. His French fries came more than an hour later along with the starters. Small pizza for a kid came with the main courses 1 hour and 40 minutes later. The kid was hungry and upset.
The total bill came to 430 CHF for 8 people. At the end, the manager came to apologies and offered us a free bottle of wine. Unfortunately, the bottle of wine couldn’t cover for an awful service offered by the lady waiter and the food that was left unfinished.
We have been coming to Nendaz for the past 10 years and have been having frequent dinners at this restaurant during the winter time. I never leave reviews but I thought people should be aware of the new management and, hence, service and cooking in this restaurant.
Unfortunately, we will be considering different restaurants...
Read moreTerrible experience. We waited 2.5 hours for our mains to arrive. Food was cold. Loads of tables came in after us and all were served and eating their mains before we even got entrees. When the bill finally came they only offered coffee as compensation for the wait (even though we had small kids to get to bed). Over charged us on the first bill then second bill arrived and a slight discount was taken off for the awful experience. All meals came out except one. The last meal came out after the rest of the party had eaten. It was when we were leaving one of the staff was blowing kisses at one of our family members to be smart.
Only thing I can say that is good. We got pizzas takeaway the first night we arrived. They were great. That is why we went back for a family meal out. I don’t...
Read moreThe food here is pretty basic but stick to pizza and pasta and you'll be ok. Personally i quite like their lasagne. My daughter's pizza had fresh mushrooms and was quite good. The chicken in lemon sauce on the other hand had too much lemon. For my 13 year old son it was too much lemon to eat. Finally i must say i was shocked to be billed 5 francs for tap water. I consider this unacceptable and I left a note for the (absent) owner to that effect with the waitress. When i asked the waitress her opinion she said she just orders bottled water herself as it is cheaper. She as well as maybe most people are more accepting than I am. This is becoming a widespread issue in Switzerland, especially for foreigners not used to paying for tap water. I avoid most such...
