We were directed to enquire at Sommet Et Niege for a Via Ferrata guide for our family (parents + 16 yo + 13 yo + 9 yo). Left our number with the helpful lady in the shop and was contacted the morning after by Virgile Nanchen.
Had a fantastic day with Virgile doing the Via Farinetta in Saillon. He brought equipment for all of us and belayed the younger two as they were too lightweight for the standard lanyards.
Everything clearly explained, with him checking throughout the course to make sure everything was all right with the different members of the family. When the 9 yo took fright half-way through the first stage, he was super patient and managed to coax and help her through to the end of that stage. Then after lunch he carried on with just her brothers and I for the second, more difficult stage. The older boy and I got confused and continued on to the third, extremely difficult stage, but Virgile got us safely back on track. The boys loved every minute of it and we felt in safe hands at all times. Can't praise Virgile...
Read moreWe have just come back from a fabulous week in Nendaz . We have been going for quite a few years and we usually use a Ski Company in Siviez so we were nervous about trying something new . We were completely reassured after about 5 minutes of meeting the ski instructors - Leia and Sandy . We were all having the first day of the ski equipment faff so we felt a little hot and bothered but the team were lovely and very understanding . Leia immediately made everyone feel at ease and my kids were comfortable in her company from the beginning . They had a great time and came back every lunch time full of beans and stories to tell . The ski instructors had trainees shadowing them whilst we were there, which was brilliant as it meant we had 2 adults per group and the groups were small. So, we had a very personal experience and were impressed with how the kids had come along by the end of the week . The experience really made our holiday...
Read moreJust returned from a family ski trip to Nandaz. We all used Somnet et Neige to hire our ski gear. The shop staff were incredibly friendly and patient (we had little ones within us). We used the ski storage facility at the shop too for drop offs and pick ups at the start / end of the day. We also used the shop to hire private ski instructors for our stay. With our group there were differing abilities so the 3 instructors soon sensibly sorted who was going where and with whom. One of my sons and I went with our instructor Conor. Conor was excellent. Very knowledgeable, managing to improve our skiing, with great advice and technique, while boosting my boys confidence in his ability with a perfect selection of runs, which were appropriately challenging. Would definitely recommend...
