Strandhotel Schmerikon — Restaurant in Schmerikon

Situated in an attractive spot at the southern end of Lake Zurich, the hotel is a few minutes walk from the railway station. It is the nearest hotel to Tuggen, a town we needed to visit, and the Strand Hotel made a lovely overnight base for us. The Lake View room we stayed in is in a separate building. It was very comfortable and spacious with a great panoramic view through large patio doors leading onto a small terrace and garden. The bed was very comfortable with a good big bathroom and a small kitchenette. We had an excellent fish dinner in the hotel’s restaurant which is on a balcony overlooking the lake. The good breakfast next morning was served by a friendly lady from Tuggen who was extremely interested in our film project about St Columbanus who had visited there from Ireland fourteen hundred years ago! We stayed for 5 nights and will be returning.

The accommodation in the new „bungalow“ rooms is superb and well thought out with air conditioning, a private sun terrace with double width sun lounger, a huge comfortable double bed and it’s really clean as well.

Both the generous continental breakfast buffet and the restaurant serving food on the terrace are excellent and the staff are exceptionally kind and helpful.

Both the restaurant and the rooms face West giving fantastic views of the lake and eating an evening meal on the terrace while watching the sun set over the water is glorious.

The hotel is only a short walk from Schmerikon centre which has a good range of shops and also train and boat stations.
