Strämu Beizli — Restaurant in Thun

We expected a wait, and we don’t mind lines. We were upset to have to sit with our hungry small children for over an hour watching four separate families arrive after us, receive their food, finish entire meals, and leave while our order never appeared.

Each time we inquired, we were told “ten more minutes.” My husband eventually had to stand directly in front of the counter to get any acknowledgment, only to be met with visible annoyance, as though our asking for the food we had already paid for was an imposition. At no point did anyone apologize, offer an explanation, or attempt to make it right. No offer to refund, no gesture of goodwill, not even basic honesty.

When the food finally arrived (partially, and missing items), it was unremarkable at best. After such treatment, even a good meal would have left a sour taste.

Whether this was incompetence, deliberate neglect, or something worse, I can’t say. What I can say with certainty is that this restaurant handled the situation with a stunning lack of professionalism. We left hungry for courtesy and respect more than anything else. Strongly recommend avoiding this place.

Edited to add - We never received two orders of onion rings, but they refunded us 10 CHF from the till when I asked for our money back after posting this review. So...

Wir waren 30‘ (nach Reservation) zu früh dran (das Restaurant war seit 45‘ offen). Dies erwähnte ich auch. Die Service-Angestellte führte uns dann zu unserem Tisch. Ich freute mich schon auf ein kühles Bier. Da meinte sie aber, dass sie uns erst in 30‘ bedienen könne, da sie noch eine Teambesprechung hätten. Wir können ja die schöne Aussicht geniessen und Getränke unten im Selbstbedienungsrestaurant holen. Das taten wir auch. Fand ich schade, nachdem sie uns schon an den Tisch geführt hatte, hätte sie uns doch nur die Getränke anbieten können. Nach 30‘ kamen weitere Gäste dazu. Diese wurden dann auch gleich bedient. Wir wurden dann nach weiteren 15‘ bedient. Also 45‘ nach dem Eintreffen. Fand ich nicht so cool. Essen: Salatbuffet - insgesamt 4 Salate und geschnittene Paprika (unmariniert) standen zur Verfügung. Fand ich ein bisschen zu einfach (für ein Buffet). Pouletschenkel-Steak mit Beilage. Das Steak hätte gut noch 5‘ länger auf dem Grill gegrillt werden dürfen (schlabrige Haut). Unser Fazit: wir kommen wahrscheinlich nicht...

Nice little restaurant. Good burgers and panini😋, however the explanation could be better 😅 The "Strämu Burger" is 200g beef whereas the normal one has 120g. The panini is delicious but its not a normal one, as it has pesto in it. Can recommend the terasse with a great view to the lake nd...
