El Burro Wil GmbH — Restaurant in Wil (SG)

As a native Southern Californian who’s living in Switzerland, I can say this isn’t very much like an authentic Mexican restaurant …but the food is ok.

The prices were typical for the region (23-35CHF per plate), but there’s no rice, beans or tortilla chips included with the entrees…which is one of the major ways it diverges from authentic Mexican food.

I was very disappointed to hear that a basket of tortilla chips cost 10CHF, whereas chips ‘n salsa would be complimentary in most US/Mexico restaurants.

Regarding the food:

The fajita platter was slightly small, but quite tasty. It consisted of a moderate quantity of tender, sliced beef, sautéed with a LOT of bell peppers and onions, accompanied by several warm flour tortillas; cost: 34CHF.

Next, the quesadilla tocino was more like a Piadina- it was oily, but generously full of cheese and bacon (cost was 23CHF).

Both entrees included appx 45 ml of guacamole, as well as sour cream. The fajitas also came with a 45 ml serving of tomato salsa which was pleasantly spicy.

My partner was still hungry when we departed, which was disappointing after spending 66CHF for dinner. (Including 8 CHF...

Ich gehe seit Jahren immer wieder in dieses Restaurant und war immer zufrieden. Die letzten Besuche waren jedoch immer enttäuschender. Die Getränke und dir Vorspeisen kamen sehr schnell. Die Vorspeisen sahen aus, als wären sie auf den Teller geworfen worden, also wirklich sehr lieblos angerichtet. Der Hauptgang kam auch sehr schnell und war teils gut und teils weniger. Der Burger hatte kaum Gemüse drin und das Spiegelei war extrem verkocht. Nach den ersten Paar Minuten wollten wir nach etwas Guacamole und sauer cream fragen, jedoch kam kein einziger Kellner mehr vorbei und fragte wie es sei oder ob wir was brauchen. Unsere Getränke waren ebenfalls leer, schien jedoch niemanden zu interessieren. Die Kellner standen hinter der „Bar“ und haben nichts getan und gewartet. Insgesamt waren wir nach 40min fertig mit dem Essen. Unsere Teller standen jedoch noch 20min vor uns! Das Essen unberührt. Der Kellner lief etliche Male an uns vorbei, mit leeren Händen und hielt es nicht für nötig unsere Teller mitzunehmen. Als wir dann von uns aus anzeigten das wir zahlen möchten, waren wir schon ziemlich genervt. Jedoch war selbst der Chef des Lokals nicht wirklich freundlich als er zum einkassieren zu uns kam.
