One of the highlights of our trip to Zermatt: lunch with the perfect view of the Matterhorn! Skiers or non-skiers alike are able to dine which we love about this restaurant! Unlike other mountain restos where the hike would take an hour, this took around 15-20 minutes from the station. Very accessible and inclusive to non-skiers. Normally restaurants with such an amazing view as this wouldn’t care about the taste of their food but not this one. We enjoyed the goulash soup (so comforting especially during the chilly temp) and the rösti!!! So so delicious! We even had the different variations of it, and all of them were good! Filling as well, so it was worth the hike and back. Coffee was also amazing and generous in size. And of course, this view. Just the perfect spot to enjoy. No need for anything fancy because the amazing food and service perfectly complemented this view. It was very cold when we went but they provided blankets! All good. We also went during lunch time but surprisingly, it wasn’t filled. Worth visiting if you want to avoid the crowds in the more famous mountainside restos.

Skied into Riffelalp train station by accident and was super hungry. Found this slope side restaurant after being turned away by another restaurant close by that only takes reservations. Very casual and friendly servers. Foods were great and reasonably priced surprisingly! Too bad I came across this place on my last day in Zermatt, otherwise I would have come here more often.

Das Bergrestaurant Chämi Hitta (Kamin Hütte) ist vom Wanderweg oder mit einem Schritt direkt von der Skipiste bei der unteren Riffelalp zu erreichen. Die Aussicht ist der Wahnsinn und der riesige Steinkamin in der Hütte heizt auf jeden Fall genauso ein, wie der Hauskaffee mit geheimen Schuss :D Wenn nur ein süßer kleiner Snack gewünscht wird, bietet der Hausherr René einen von den leckeren hausgemachten Kuchen oder Apfelstrudel an. Für den großen Hunger gibt es eine gute Auswahl an Walliser Spezialitäten (z.B. einen Teller Trockenfleisch mit Hobelkäse), frische Salate (z.B. mit Hirschstreifen), heiße Suppen (z.B. hausgemachte Gemüsesuppe mit Wienerli), Pasta (z.B.Tortellini an Rahmsoße) oder die berühmten Rösti (eine Art riesen Kartoffelpuffer) mit gegrillter Bratwurst. Also für jeden Geschmack etwas dabei... Das Restaurant ist kinderfreundlich, da neben Spielzeugen auch einfache Chicken Nuggets und Pommes angeboten werden. Die ausgewählte Musik in der Hütte und der Terrasse bringt immer gute Stimmung. Also liebe Leute, ein Besuch in diesem gemütlichen Restaurant lohnt sich allemale!!!

We tried this little spot after discovering it next to our ski hire shop and were not disappointed. It has a friendly family run atmosphere and although the seating inside isn't huge there are tables for at least 4 with more seating outside.

The food was great we had a mixed salad and rosti each. The quality was fresh and full of flavour. We thought it was good value for money although nowhere is that cheap in Zermatt but this was reasonably priced. Worth a visit either for...

The restaurant looks nice and the service is very friendly, but the food made us very sad. The pasta was drenched in cream, overcooked and lacking in any flavour. The salad and cheese pie were not good. The hot alcoholic drinks just tasted of sugar. Desserts and goulash were ok but not as good as in other restaurants in the area. The complimentary liqueurs at the end were a nice touch, but we won’t visit again because...
