As vegetarian foodies who love South Indian and Sri Lankan cuisine, we’re so happy to have discovered this gem in Zurich. It was our first visit to Aharam and we were so impressed by the warm and friendly hospitality. The owner is extremely courteous and kind, and is keen to ensure all her guests leave feeling satisfied.
We enjoyed dosa (savoury lentil and rice pancakes, served with creamy spinach and yellow lentils), two types of vadai (fried lentil doughnuts), gobi manchurian (a flavourful potato and cauliflower curry) and we were delighted to sample some amazing ‘appam’ which are also known as ‘hoppers’. They’re made with fermented rice batter and lots of coconut milk. Slightly but not overly sweet - just perfect!
The portions are really generous and we left feeling super full, but with happy tummies. We thought that spice level is just right for us - definitely a lot less spicy than you’d find in Sri Lanka, but this meant we could enjoy it all!
