Beautiful castle looking restaurant where you can have high tea. The high tea was pretty good with some tasty salty treats and cakes. Looked really pretty as well. The charcuterie board was ok, but I would def recommend the high tea instead as it was more unique and better value for money.

Also, I believe my wine was spoiled - it tasted and smelled funny, and even the color looked off. I asked the waitress about it but I don’t think she understood me because of the language barrier. It was also a bit funny how they served it - first bringing the closed bottle to the table and just leaving it there :D It didn’t spoil our experience much though, but just saying that don’t go for wine here as they don’t really know what to do with it :)

Ah, also keep in mind that technically you can get the lunch menu only until 1pm, and after that only the afternoon tea...

On our drive to Taroko national park we were amused and surprised to see European style and Victorian Gothic buildings peeking up from beyond the ridge. We parked the car to look at the hotel and the blooming wisterias and as we wandered around to the front saw the signs advertising western style tea for 500nt + 10% for each person, and decided why not give it a try? The staff are courteous and professional and the interior from hallways to bathrooms to restaurants and courtyards are all impressively consistent in theme and detail. The afternoon tea ended up being very worth the price as we couldn't even finish one full tower but enjoyed sampling each treat. Our favorites were the salad that had a variety of cheese, olives and salami, and the oolong citrus tart. Definitely worth the view and...

Reservation is needed and easily done via Google. High tea set and lunch set has many items. We ordered 1 set each to share. Food is good. Stewed lamb shank is so tender and falls off the bone. The desserts, soup and freshly baked bread accompanying the main course were good. Earl Grey tea with the high tea set was refillable. Savoury snacks in the high tea were all great. The sweet snacks were adorable except a little too sweet for our liking. We like the place and ambience here.
