Oya Pizzeria Trattoria 無訂位服務 全日營業 — Restaurant in Hsinchu

Update: Went back to this place and the pizza was as delicious as before. Unusually for Hsinchu, it’s open on Mondays. We had the lunch menu which came with a lovely salad and a couple of slices of really nice bread. My wife pointed out that while the pizzas are not very large they are very tasty and the texture is perfect.

Lovely little pizza restaurant with an absolutely delicious pizza. I went here on impulse after having a craving for pizza. I’m very glad I did as the fiorentina pizza was absolutely fabulous. The light pizza base had a generous chewy crust. This was paired with aromatic bacon, authentic cheese, tangy sauce, and other delicious toppings. The pizza arrived fairly quickly but not before I had time to enjoy the slightly eclectic decor. There is also a nice looking outdoors area that on my early evening visit was mainly occupied by cute cats. The only downer was the tiramisu with was ok but lacking much marination in the cake base (hint you can use espresso and a splash of Bacardi for this). I didn’t eat a salad - the one at the table near me looked delicious and the guests loved it so maybe on my next visit. If I could I’d give Oya...

Buried underneath a forest of arugula there is a decent pizza for Taiwan standards. There is clearly some effort and work behind it, as shown from certificates on the walls. However, while claiming some kind of originality they still slip into taiwanese habits that take away from the original italian inspiration: pizza is too small, sauce smeared all over, arugula forest (too much!), served in slices (italian pizza isn’t a shared food!). I praise the effort and the choice of genuine italian ingredients. The place is nice and clean. But to be clear: this is not italian pizza, more like an ‘italian inspired’...

I took out two pizza. Both of them are flavory. The source and topping come with decent combination. This is one of the best option I can have in down town Hsinchu. However, we still observe two downside from my orders. The pizza is kind of chewy. I was expecting crispy and full of flour flavor. I suppose it is led by steam since I took it back to my place. The other one is cherry tiramisu. It doesn’t taste good enough. I cannot feel these cherries are marinated along with liquor. Nevertheless, overall experience is still nice. I will definitely give another...
