If you're visiting Houtong Cat Village, you absolutely must stop by Hide & Seek Café! 💖 This cozy little café is tucked away on a small hillside. Just follow the piano-key stairs, and you'll find this charming spot waiting for you. The atmosphere inside is peaceful and inviting, and the lovely elderly couple who run the place make you feel right at home.
Visiting while the typhoon was on Taiwan's doorstep was a whole experience in itself. Rain kept on pouring, the cats hiding in safe spots with some knocking on the door for their lunch. The elderly couple eagerly prepared food for all the cats who were waiting for their lunch break.
But let’s talk about the real star of this café, Fat Tiger (胖虎) 🐯. This ABSOLUTE UNIT of a cat is the undisputed king of the village! He’s huge, fluffy, and incredibly chill, often lounging around and greeting guests. Many visitors come here just to see him in person, and honestly, I don’t blame them! They realized most of us in our group were foreigners and they were able to accommodate us in English, and provided us with an English menu. The lady owner walked us through the menu and showed us photos of the menu items. We ordered the mango smoothie, an iced caramel latte, and a hot hazelnut latte. All of the drinks were delicious, the smoothie was refreshing and dense, the lattes were not too bitter, too sweet, just perfect. We ordered 2 desserts and they were divine and not over sweet like how some American desserts can be. The cafe has a house cat and he is very cute and friendly. 10/10 would recommend if you visit the Houtong...

Wandered in on a chilly and overcast day while visiting the cat village. The couple that owns this cafe are retirees that decided to come back to the husband's hometown. Very kind and chats to their customers. The lady can speak a little bit of English to help take orders.
Walls are filled with photos of the cats in the area and they invite guests to draw the cats while they are eating or drinking. They keep people's drawings and put them under the table.
A resident cat called fat tiger (胖虎)lives here. Apparently wandered in because it liked the aircon and then never left. Fat tiger is a big unit and was named first, and then...
