I'm not a local, so if you're someone looking for a review of someone who lives overseas, keep going...
Zongcheng Beef Noodle is known locally so I came when I had a chance while being in town.
The wait is grueling, 45 minutes to be exact. There will be no seating and the heat outside will hurt. If you don't mind the wait, then it's all good. However, if you would like your food sooner. there were people who order take outs and the wait seems faster so this might be an alternative option to consider.
Once you are inside, the decor is very minimal if any. The environment is clean but nothing stood out. There's a/c blowing, but due to the constant stove being cooked right outside, there will be a certain amount of heat that flows into the room that may make it warmer then desired.
There is a small fridge that enables you to take out some pre-made plates of food that is self served. The cost is charged per plate and this is fixed. Additionally you may check out a behind the counter beef related items such as tendons and seaweed. They'll have it prepared and depending on the amount you order, they'll give you a pre-determined charge for your plate on the spot.
Beef noodle (small) - 5 / 5 As someone who has a decent appetite regularly, this bowl of noodle is no joke. It was filled to the brim and it felt like I was having a beef buffet with noodles? The beef was tender but I really felt like if they added some vegetables on the side that it'll definitely make this bowl better.
Service - 3 / 5 Minimalistic if you ask me. Most of the people working inside the restaurant seemed overworked and aren't happy. I get it, it's a local eat so I'm not expecting much but it is definitely something to keep in mind if you check this restaurant out.
All in all, the beef noodle is genuinely legit but this restaurant will probably never get the customer service of the year...
Read moreIn the lively lanes of Taipei, you'll find a place that has been consistently serving up something special - a comforting, homestyle bowl of beef noodle soup. This place is none other than Zhongcheng Beef Noodle Restaurant, a local favorite that has quietly withstood the test of time.
What makes Zhongcheng so beloved is its broth, a carefully crafted blend of dark soy, tomato, and red chili. This is not just any broth - it's the result of a family recipe, passed down through generations, its secrets zealously guarded.
The stewards of this tradition are a pair of sisters who have been running the place for over 20 years. They've made it their mission to provide good value to their customers, a promise they uphold with bowls that are generously filled, bucking the trend of smaller portions around the city.
Their noodles are thick and chewy, perfect for soaking up the flavorful broth. As for the beef, it comes in two forms: shanks and tendons. The tendons are juicy, with a pleasant gelatinous texture, while the shanks are tender and packed with flavor.
The beef noodle soup is often served with a side of tea eggs and seaweed, simple but classic accompaniments that round out the meal. And to complete the experience, you're encouraged to wash it all down with a crisp Apple Sidra soda.
Zhongcheng Beef Noodle Restaurant is a gem in Taipei's dining scene, a tribute to the enduring appeal of a well-loved dish. It's a place I always make a point of visiting whenever I'm in town. It's not flashy, it's not fancy, but it's undeniably satisfying, and sometimes, that's all...
Read moreThe store is top-notch! I visited the store because of its fame with huge beef and numerous noodle.
Around the store there are neither nearby YouBike decks nor train stations. The nearest MRT station is approximately 10 mins on foot away from the store.
At first when I came to the store, it was fully packed with many customers, so I could hardly access the store. I ordered a small bowl of beef noodle, and they fetched me a SUPER big bowl. I initially thought that they probably incorrectly gave me that. However, after ascertaining that with the waiter, it turned out that the size I ordered is truly the smaller one.
The size for their small bowl is as huge as normal big size bowl from most restaurants or eateries in Taiwan. Therefore, my suggestion is that for those have big appetite, you won’t be regret to have a giant bowl from their store.
After having the meal, it’s also good to stroll a little for digestion until arrive at the MRT Zishan Station.
Definitely I strongly recommend those have big appetite to visit the store. 10 out of 10 I gave the store for their fantastic service and numerous materials they provide from...
